When I come back to Oahu, Taniokas and Sugois are always on my list. Everytime I walk into Tanioka's without a game plan, I end up spending a ton.... and that's okay.

WB from Tennessee! Assuming you did the videos in chronological order. You're such a good mom to take your son on summer trips! You hit the nail on the head with these three places! I'm shocked to see Tanioka's NOT too busy!

Thanks. Yes did them in chronological order when I got back. I was shocked as well but I guess everyone was sleeping in. 😴

Gulick Deli is the best hands down. Been there since the 70’s. A fixture in Kalihi. Nostalgic, lots of fond memories. Although I stay on the Leeward side when I fly home, I always make a trip to Gulick’s. I’ll sit in my car and eat the delicious grub and watch numerous patrons drive up and take off knowing they made the right decision for a delicious meal. I reminisce of walking to Kalihi Waena School everyday while passing this famous landmark.

As you probably know, Young just loved Tanioka's, and I had a friend who lived on Gulick when we were going to UH, so I used to stop at Gulick Deli quite a bit back then. Good to see it's still going.

Thanks so much; I've been missing Hawaii so much lately, your video made me feel like I was there enjoying all the ono food! The price for that fresh ahi sashimi was more than reasonable and the price for that yummy looking garlic chicken bento (can't believe they had to use a rubber band to keep the lid on) was unbelievable - more than reasonable! Looking forward to your next video, it'll keep me going till next year (definitely will be on Oahu next year).

Tanioka's: fish patty, shiso musubi, cone sushi, suman (may not have this right now because of the pandemic), korean tako poke, sometimes haupia/Okinawan sweet potato dessert bar, sometimes fried chicken, sometimes roast pork. Sugoi: garlic chicken plate Gulick: konbu maki and depends what's available and what I feel like. (Matumoto's down the street from Gulick has a tasty old fashioned style chow funn)
@FoodFiend2 жыл бұрын
Agreed on everything except I don't eat cone sushi. I know...I'm weird. My very first video I ever made featured Matsumoto's. Love their chow fun and kim chi sausage.
