Owner of a 2000 SVS here. Love these bikes! But the sad fact of the matter is 95 percent of these are owned by first time riders and they beat, neglect and crash these things in their learning process. So much potential in this platform tho its really a shame so many get put through the ringer and destroyed. Wish I could find another clean specimen to build a full out race bike out of... thanks for the video brother stay safe out there 🤘

yep, like miatas where they're all rusty or crashed :( tbf this is why i can have a workable partout volume though (cheap junk bikes and decent demand for parts)

Thanks again for making a great video. Just stick with the sv’s. There’s so much to know about them. Do a video on R&R a motor. Or upgrading suspension, or dicking around with the computer. Now that would be awesome. Valve clearance and adjustment, etc.

I was given an SV650S free !. When it was sorted it cost me the same amount of money that I could have bought a good running bike.

Recently bought a ‘99 for $1,500. Owner also threw in a parts bike (no tank or cluster though). It runs fine, I think I just need to give it a good carb cleaning and sync, and replace a couple things. Bikes definitely been down before and has a weird dent on the front of the tank right next to the handlebars

You can buy used SV650A Gen 3 2016 - 2019 in Thailand with 3,400 USD, under 10,000 km. used to run.

at this point im not even sure if i should keep it or sell it. The tank is all rusted up inside, i replace the fuel pump with an aftermarket part. The previous owner left it outside for 4 years. i replaced the pump because i was getting a whining noise. The whining noise is coming back, what would be the problem?

This video was made directly for me. Lol. All very good points. Also good for buying some one else's project bike to finish. My project is " finished" but it's not because 1st and neutral are wonky. Hard to get into at times. Some wear on those parts some where in there now I'm contemplating tearing down the trans gears/case or swapping the engine. But i just wanna ride it.

I replaced the starter motor, battery, solenoid, and still can’t get the bike to start. It just buzzes at the solenoid and drains the bike dead. I tried it with 3 separate batteries. All good. I unplugged the stator and regulator and tested and it’s still draining. I’ve unplugged almost every socket on this bike and I’m at my wits end. This video is quite fitting. Arghhh

What happens if you go directly to the battery w the starter wire? Is the starter jammed or is the motor seized?

I have a 2003 svs650 and that happens to me I check every single part of the harness and nothing. Then someone told me check the cutoff switch. When I used to press it the next day it was dead. If you still have the bike check that out. Good Luck

had a ktm 390 and these engines usually blow up before you can even get to a crash hahaha sad to see these sv 650 get handled like that by their previous owners but thats what you get when you build a bike with durability of a cockroach lol

I took a minor hit a while ago, front end I thought was ok, but when I changed the fork springs and oil recently I noticed one stanchion was *slightly* bent, ever so slightly. It rides ok but I DO have a replacement stanchion to fit very soon.. question is, how can I tell that the triple trees are ok? Can I take them off and measure them somehow?
@Mad8vCycles3 жыл бұрын
Easiest way is to slide both forks in at the same time. If they both slide in smooth it's straight. The other thing to check if you have the forks out is that both the lips are even where the clamp bolt is.

There was a rvf400, been in a shed for 7 years. Talked to the seller, he said he pulled it out of storage and chucked petrol in it and a battery and it fired up after a few minutes of turning it over. I asked him did he change oil or prime the pistons with oil before turning it over, answer was no. Ok I'll give that one a miss then 🤦♂️
