It’s funny I’ve been racing mx for a year and never had the problem. I also follow the channel and I’ve watched a decent amount of the videos but it all. Two weeks ago mid air my quad dies. I dig and dig was convinced the pump was bad too. A local motor guy recommended pulling the pump and that was my problem. He also recommended I do the same fix. Then your video pops up lol! Thanks for the good tips brother good luck this year

Ya I was worried at first my top end was smoked luckily this was a cheap easy fix but it still sucked bigtime during that race. Any break down is such a heartbreaker.

@@ononewheel7 had a seized lower rod. Top end was fine. But I'm replacing it all. New cylinder and crank and piston. 98mm cylinder. I ordered 5mm stroker kit but found out its on back order so I order a stock stroke big bore kit. And the head is getting ported/polished. Combustion chamber getting done up. And it will get some kind of better cam setup but idk what I should do. I think stage 3 would be too much cam. What do u think?

Is this an efi yfz or carbed yfz? So nothing happens when pushing the start button? If you want you can message me on ig or facebook as well may be a little faster vs here.

Well a zip tie is plastic like the pump I think maybe in a month or tow i will remove it and check out how its holding up!

I would imagine u could also just pinch the connections a bit and make it a much tighter fit. not as good as solder but would work if u don't have a solder gun

Hey John, thanks for sharing. I'll definitely be looking into this since the trails I've been riding niw are pretty bumpy. I started having an issue with the the rpm going up and down after a few minutes of riding. Any idea on what could be the problem? Thanks again.

Normally if its a fuel pump issue you will only have 0-1/2 throttle after that it falls on its face. Rpm issue could be a tps issue or an idle speed control issue or an air leak somewhere in the intake and boot to the throttle body

So I have a 2015 yamaha YFZ 450R that won't start. I can hear the fuel pump kick on and off. It will crank but won't start. I'm going to put new fuel in it to see if that will work. If there is any suggestion on anything would be appreciated.

Fuel/air/spark Sounds like you have fuel i would pull the plug and make sure you have spark. If you do then do a compression test amd even double check timing and valve lash. Not sure how much time is on your machine and if its all stock or not. Keep me posted on what you find.

I recently got a 2020 yfz 450r and have had issues with it bogging when I shift into 5th and get in the throttle pretty hard any ideas as to why it does this. Bike is stock

These quads from 2014+ have a bog from the factory. Not sure if yours is stock or what but a vortex ece cleans up the stock mapping pretty good.

Not really piggy back programers wont fix it. Some people have sent out the stock ecu for a re flash and have had some luck with correcting it.

Hey Bro! I have a 2016 YFZ 450 R SE Quad was running fine but it needed an oil change. I changed the oil now it won’t start up. I changed the spark plug and it won’t crank sometimes it does but I have to rev it really high as soon as I let the accelerator go back down it bogs and turns off. Any idea? The machine was bought new only I’ve owned it. Changed the oil every time doesn’t have much hours couldn’t tell you how much exactly but the machine is fairly new. Never raced it just some trail riding any idea? I’m thinking of ordering a new fuel pump, and injector. Please help thank you.

How are your battery connections? anything loose or corroded? is the battery good? you may want to check the fuel pump and see how much pressure which is easy disconnect the fuel line and grab a water bottle put it over the fuel line on the pump and cycle the key on the fuel should have a strong solid stream hitting the end of the water bottle. also did you gap the plug properly?

I was messing with my fuel pump the other day, wanted to clean the filter, and I almost took that filter cover off. my cuzzin to me to leave it on, but I wanted to know why?! what's the purpose of that cover?

No leave it on. I think its just to protect the filter honeslty.

@@ononewheel7 I went to a 2008 Yamaha yfz 450 forums and they said this - i talked to my dealer when i bought mine and he warned me about that issue its the way the tank's are setup mine will cut out like out of gas after 1/2 is left and turn to reserve if not it won't run thats a minor issue they havent fixed most yfz's they told me do it and its normal - so I went for gas and sure enough I went for a 45 mins drive on "on"

Do you run a "tilt, lean, tip over, emergency stop switch" on your quad? I went over on my 2020 quad and it ran immediately after I turned it over. Then a couple miles down the road it stalled on me and now I can't get it to start. There is no prime in the fuel pump. There was a guy told to check the tip switch. There are other things it is called but on Yamaha OEM Parts it's called the emergency stop switch. Do you know anything about those? Will it cause the fuel pump not to prime?

Normally for the tip sensor once you get the quad rite side up again and cycle the key on/off it usually resets. I delete this sensor on all my quads i just run a tether switch. You may have another issue are you getting any codes on the dash when the key is on?

I took the battery out to see if the issue I have is the same you had, but all the wires were connected, and it didn't look like anything was broken. What type of other code would I get on the dash to let me know if something is wrong other than the fuel pump? Just to let you know this is great that you can answer my questions. Not to many people take the time these days to do that. I really do appreciate you taking your time.

If your fuel pump is not working then its one of two things. 1 the fuel pump relay this is located by the ECU. Second the pump could be bad or a wire may have come off the pump. I always try to answer everyone. If you have a code when you turn the key one your efi light will flash a certain number of times then you can reference that number and find out what code it is.

I have a 2018 why Yfz450r won’t start only way I can start it is hold the start button then turn the key on and I’ll start once I get it running it’ll run then you can start it let it sit for a while I have to hit the start button and turn the key could it be the fuel pressure regulator or pump

Hows the stream of fuel? If you unplug the fuel line grab a bottle and hold it under the pump and turn the key on and look at the stream. Whats done to this quad and how many hours it could also be an engine issue.

@@ononewheel7 I checked the flow is a good flow and the motor just been rebuilt could it be low-voltage put a new battery and new stater and fly wheel I thought it might be the pressure regulator to get it started I push the start button in and hold it first then turn the key and it will start once it’s warmed up to start normally what’s a sit for an hour I have to repeat the whole process again driving me crazy appreciate the info do you have any more please let me know

It can happen. It sometimes can be the fuel pump or fuel pump relay or tip sensor. Does yours show any codes?

While the fuel pump can run if it has low pressure the engine won’t run and it will shut off. They are solid quads for sure if your dealing with a used quad then it may just need some tlc to get it straightened out.
