Hey, awesome video! I'm planning to do my valve shims and timing chain but I'm confused where do we match the dots on the cam shaft too? and how do I know if I set the chain properly?

The marks on the cam shafts will line up with the top of the cylinder head (shown at 4:00 in this video). When putting the chain back on, you need to have the timing mark on the flywheel cover aligned as well as both cams (shown at 12:44 in this video).

What did you use to hold the new valve cover gasket in place on the valve cover? Everytime I go to put it on the bike the gasket falls off the valve cover. Its a new gasket and new valve cover.

sometimes they do that, you can use a little nit of gasket maker if you need it

🤔 wondering if this is why my 450 starts but then hits a tight spot but it still runs normally until it gets to that out of spec valve. My crank seem ok though thanks for video I’ll check this first

@@krotchlickmeugh627 all done I rebuilt it myself it was definitely a bad crank bearing it still runs great I’m going to check the valves soon. The rebuild was several months ago. New videos will be up on my channel in the coming weeks

@@Hayven1992 didn't come with one. Only a service book that has nothing. It says see a dealer for valves right in the book. I figured it out and did though. Easy to do.

i have a 2014 yfz450r and my exhaust gets red hot.. my question is , could what you are doing in this video be the solution to my problem ?

Valves are a good thing to check regularly but it doesn't sound like this is your issue. You could check your spark plug to make sure you're not running too lean which would cause the quad to run hot but it's normal for YFZs to have a red hot exhaust, especially when just idling.

Hello I took a few weeks ago to adjust my valves but uncover to change rings my question is if I change the valve seals do I have to re-adjust or are they still adjusted I just want to change seals to be a little calmer the valves are in good condition

As long as the valves are wearing evenly and you keep every part in it's same location, then it shouldn't need to be readjusted after changing stem seals. I would check them with the cylinder head still off the engine to be sure. That way you know if something is wrong or if you did need to make adjustments. - Wes

Lets say there was such a thing as a race or non race version. Just to humor you. There isnt lol so jokes on you. On the ttr250 rather than the yz250f-r the valves are not cam over bucket. They are screw and lock nut. Because they dont rev as high as this bike. Totally different engine.

The best thing I have ever done was trade my POS yfz450 for a cub banshee I was under the fuel tank more than I was on the seat of that hunk of $hit I even had new valve's installed and I was still always adjusting the intake valves that back firing hard starting POS I figured out my Yamaha designed a quick release fuel tank for it after I ran the first 2 tanks of fuel threw it

@@randysmith8604 it was an 04 or 05 I can't remember 100% for sure it had the oil mod done to the case after it blew the first time then I built a 480 out it then the head gasket blew out twice had to stud the engine after that after about a tank of fuel it was hard starting and backfiring threw the exhaust adjusted the valve's a few times after that then I found out the valve's were shit they started cupping or coning however you want to call it installed all new valve's then the cdi box took a crap that was the biggest POS I have ever owned
