We’re wrapping up our three-part series showing you how to rebuild the top end on a Yamaha YFZ450R. In this video, we’re done with the top end and it’s time to put our ATV back together again.
We’ll pick up where we left off in part two: the spark plug. We’ll show you how to install the airbox on your YFZ450, and then we’ll get the exhaust back on. Our ATV won’t run without gas, so the next step will be to get the fuel tank bolted on and connected. Then, we’ll crank it up to make sure it’s working and get the plastics back on.

My oil overfills in the reservoir, I cleaned the inline oil screen (post oil reservoir toward the motor), changed filter and made sure oil is flowing to the upper oil line(by lostening the bolt and oils quickly came out) is is normal for the oil to everfill in the reservoir? The oil is still pretty cool when I have checked, will there be a better balance if it is hotter, it seem like a problem to me , can't figure it out

I got a question, I know this is a older video but my 2005 yfz 450 runs very good and super strong. But seems the exhaust gets hot, quickly. Not sure if that’s a normal thing with these or do I need a carb adjustment

Probably need a carb adjustment especially if you have an upgraded exhaust or intake

Hi there l have a question my 2006 yfz 450 recently jumped out of time , what is the reason this happened, do the timing chain stretch that much to cause this , I retimed it but it won't start do you think it might have bent a valve it seems that the compression is weak I could sure use a few pointers Thanks Bobby

Sounds like you are on the right track. Chain tensioner may be an issue. Test compression and check valves.

The carburetor gums up sometimes if fuel is left in for just couple months take it apart clean accelerator pump all the jets and look into a trick called zip tie mod for it too it’ll help ya out pal

my 09 yfz 450 has an engine light on and it throws the code number 12 aka crack shaft position sensor and one now what going on it turns over still but won’t run

Could be starter relay. Have you tested it?

Partzilla would a bad starter relay keep it from starting even though I can cross the post on it with a screw driver and it turns over ? It has spark and I poured fuel in the cylinder but won’t start ? I did a compression test but you really can’t do one because of the auto decompression I only go 40 psi though ? Any suggestions

Generally smoke from the exhaust means bad rings.

Yes could be the rings but depends on what color the smoke is if it’s blue then it’s oil and is most likely the rings, if it’s white could be coolant leaking from the head gasket or some where else on to the exhaust

God wash the dam thing with and without the plastics lol
