Harbor Freight Air Compressor did a great job airing up tires on my new Fire Truck. Thank you for getting it fired up. Airing up tires and empty the Water tank then driving it home for me.

First tractor I ever drove was a 4030 soundgard cab back in the 80's. Lived on a 400 acre dairy farm, we had 4 tractors. All JD's, 4030, 2010 utility, 1840 mfwd with 245 loader and a 600 Industrial with factory JD loader. Out of the 4, the 600 Industrial was the toughest tractor we had.

It's always a pleasure to tune in and see what you teach your son and everything you do Riley it's really awesome how you end up passing the knowledge along and what you do for these abandoned pieces of equipment to breathe life into them again and eventually find people that want them and how you get them from an abandoned state to end up dad and the helping these pieces of equipment to be used again

We use to plant with a 4030. Has a 329ci non turbo engine. Solid engine. That water pump is rebuildable and all it needs. Bearing just seized up. Only bad thing is the 3pt sensor bar. Seals fail due to bushings wearing. It was to small in diameter. Aside from that, bullet proof.

Probably why it was parked, locked up water pump. You might have been able to cut the belt and just run it for a short time, but the owner probably wouldn't have like that. Thanks for sharing, Wily!

Cant go wrong with a 40 series John Deere, the best they ever made. I have a 4440 with over 12,000 hrs on original engine components
@jeremyjackson119414 күн бұрын
That's a power shift transmission, it really has that many gears, the purpose for that many is to give farmers a wide selection of speeds depending on weather there planting, plowing or whatever, you can also shift some of the gears on the go without using the clutch. Its easier to show than explain.
@chucks432813 күн бұрын
That's a 16 speed quad range transmission. It has 4 ranges A, B, ,C, and D with 4 speeds in each range. A power shift only has 1 lever. You can shift through the gears simply by pushing or pulling the lever in a straight line without clutching. The 30 and 40 series power shift JD'S only had 8 speeds. The 50 series power shift had more gears. I can't remember how many right now without looking it up.

That's a 16 speed quad range transmission, pretty reliable but on occasion the 2 speed will go out requiring a split to fix it. I'd rather have the syncro range 8 speed. If I remember, the engine is a 329 CI Dubuque/Mannheim engine. Never was a big fan of them. They were made from 1973 to 78. Look at the serial tag on the rear and here are the breaks. 1973: 1000 1974: 6700 1975: 10153 1976: 13022 1977: 15417 Final: 16689

I don’t know about that tractor but one of my tractors has a grease fitting so if that does I would take it out a spray WD 40 in it and it will probably free it up

When you go to crank a John Deere like that twist the steering wheel in will knock the pressure of the hyrulie pump that tractor 73 to 78

@charlesmccormick444313 күн бұрын
Best guess , water pump went out , coolant leaked out , possibly over heated , possible engine damage , cracked head , leaking head gasket , collapsed piston rings or worse are possible .
@timothyboyd726614 күн бұрын
Front cap on top is fuel it should be red The other is the radiator the gears are aphlibet like A 1 or B 3 so on should only be 8 gears
