If you recall, the only reason that Jon wasn’t killed by Mance Rayder was because Qhorin Halfhand made the ultimate sacrifice by faking a fight between Jon and himself so that Jon might gain Mance’s trust in order to get info that might help the Watch defend against a wildling attack. Jon isn’t the kind of person who would piss on that sacrifice by running off into the sunset with Ygritte.

The actors that play the evil characters in this series are some of the best I have ever seen. The hatred I felt for so many characters in this series was more than anything I ever watched. Joffrey, Cersai, Ramsey, Frey and a few others just nail their parts so well.

@@NovaLena22 Gilly was a victim of Craster's Keep. Ygritte was a soldier who was responsible for the deaths of members of the Watch, including the Halfhand. No one would accept her at the wall, even Maester Aemon. If he brought her back, they'd torture and hang her. The most they could do is run away together, but eventually Jon would be recognized by someone and reported as a deserter. She would be recognized as a wildling by her accent. Jon wouldn't leave anyway, he was loyal to the watch. The whole thing was an act, he just ended up falling for her as well. There really was no answer to make that happen.

Both Arya's and Sansa's stories are scathing deconstructions of fantasy tropes for princesses. Sansa wanted to be a classical princess and ends up being abused and treated like chattel. Arya wanted to be an adventuring girl-boss princess and ends up being scared, hungry and running for her life all the time, not to mention witnessing death, including of her own family, everywhere she goes.

All the main Starks get what they wanted but not the way they expect, Jon went to the wall to make a name for himself and to find a found family who can accept him for who he is , instead he's trapped at a frozen wasteland were nobody gives a fuck about him save for a few people and is surrounded by rapists and criminals. sansa wanted to live in the South and experience all the fantasys she grew up having, instead she's stuck as a political prisoner being constantly used and abused by the king she once thought she loved while her family is dying one by one and her home us being destroyed . Arya wanted to be like the cool girls in history vasenya and nymeria going on epic adventures, instead she's on the run fighting for her life while the world explodes around her from the war and watch's her family die . Bran grew up loving horror stories about the long night and magic, now he's been crippled and forced away from his home by someone he thought he could trust and watches his old mentors die before his eyes , and is given strange powers he doesn't understand and is directly connected to the long night his life has litrealy become a horror story And finally rob who wanted to be a good and respected leader like his father , is forced to be a king and fight a war , is betrayed by everyone he thought he could trust , fails to avenge his father or liberate his people and is disgraced in the worst way possible all for just trying to do the right thing . The message for the Starks seems to be , be careful what you wish for .

I think there is more to it than that. Tyrion puts his life on the line constantly for his family, fighting in wars to win them a better life. And all his children, all they do is complain. Tyrian just sleeps with woman and drinks all day,. Cersie is the fucking Queen. And Jamie is in the King's Guard. And instead of being grateful, all they do is resent their father. He looks down on this children for their pretty complaints. Like he hasn't made them all rich and powerful. Tyrian complaining about marrying the beautiful Sansa??? Cersie complaining about having to marry Sir Loras?? He risks his life and they are complaining about living in ivory towers about marrying decent people? It drives him crazy.

In the books (not really a spoiler for the TV series) there is a theory that the Mad King r-worded Tywin's wife Joanna, the main reason Tywin betrayed the king & joined Baratheon. Tyrion has splotches of silver hair & 1 purple eye, plus Targarayens have dwarfism in their bloodline. Cersi hates Tyrion for 'killing her mother' but Tywin hates him because he reminds him of the transgression. He won't kill Tyrion because he still sees Joanna in him.

If you think about it. it was obvious Roose Bolton was jumping ship when he sent Jamie on his way. And remember how awkward and evasive the Bolton henchmen were when Jamie returned for Brienne. They used to be so smug and insulting. When he returned they barely looked or talked to him more then acknowledge his presence. And Jamie had the confidence to be all pushy and bold. Because he knew his father had made some kind of a deal by the end of his dinner with Lord Roose and Brienne. No way they were gonna let him be hurt any further.

Yes. Technically they tell you that it's Bolton's son that's captured Theon, long before he's ever shown on screen, but the two-second line is so casually delivered that it's easily missed, or at least forgotten about by most. I've only seen one reactor that remembered, and figured out who Ramsay was from the start.

Catelyn's death was expanded on in the book. House Tully have a tradition of burying their dead by sailing them down a river. So Frey's boys Freys threw her corpse directly into the Green Fork of the Trident outside of the castle and let her corpse rot

So important to remember that Jon, probably more than anyone is most like Ned. A man of his word. and he made his oath to the nights watch. He made decisions that went against his oath (sleeping with someone for example). but it was all in service of the watch, and defending the people of Westeros. At least from his perspective. He obviously loves Ygritte, but he made a promise to Qhorin, and to the watch. He was responsible for so many rangers dying because he couldn't kill Ygritte. He was always a crow. As Ygritte said "you didn't stop being a crow when you walked into Mance Rayders tent". She knew. She denied it, but she knew.

Also, while she did not grow up expecting to inherit the throne herself, she did grow up in the firm belief that her brother was the rightful king, and more than likely with the expectation that there was good chance of her ending up marrying her sibling, as so many of her ancestors had done, and thus becoming the rightful queen.

I watched this show before my older sister. So one night when she wanted to catch up, I took my niece and our younger brother into her room to play (got is DEFINITELY not for children), but I had the door open and I had a prime view of my sister watching on the couch in the living room and she was so engrossed that she didn’t notice me leaning so far back to watch her that I nearly fell over. She SCREAMEDDDD. She completely broke down and was a mess during episode nine. Hate to say that I felt exactly like Ash because I KNEW what she was in for and I couldn’t help but laugh because I’d been through it watching that episode myself. She was pissed at me too. She quit the show for about a month, full on went into mourning, didn’t even want to watch anymore. She finally got back to it but whewwww!😭
