It's not that hard. You just have to memorize the way you compare pronounciation of letters in Deutsch like in Polish, zu beispiel: TSCH = Polish cz, SCH = Polish sz, CH like in ICH pronounced in Nordgerman accent or G like in 20-ig 30-ig = Polish ś, then the Polish letter Ł you pronounce like English W, Ń is like Spanish Ñ, etc. etc. Trust me, German is not this easier language at the beginning too, for example for us Polish Deutsch EU = Polnisch OJ, AU = AŁ, EI = AJ, etc. 🙂 Now it might make sens? 😉
@kor_di8 жыл бұрын
BTW, it's so nice that's while I visited Hamburg this Saturday, I saw "Eichhörnchen" walking along the Judisch Cemetery. And more, I had a fun thinking why the channel is called "Don't Trust the Rabbit", just look around Alt Elbspark where are a lot of cute rabbits 😍 and you'll get it 😉

Yeah, I used to get called "Poopschen". In English, we used to have something similar, by adding "kins" at the end. e.g. Karl would be Karlykins or one could be one's "sweetkin". A quick search: Suffix-kins Forming (often intentionally childish or twee) diminutives of nouns.

German as 2nd language speaker here. Fellow English speakers: Our word "acorn" is "Eichhörn" in German. Squirrels eat acorns; therefore can you see how Germans "came up with" this "odd" word for an acorn eater? See how the words look and sound similar? This helps me remember what the proper word in German is. They're what are called "cognates" -- words that are quite similar in 2 languages *because* the 2 languages come from the same language family. German & English are siblings in the Germanic language family that also includes the major Scandinavian languages, except Finnish.

This was very useful. I was not even aware that I was pronouncing the German "ch" sound wrong until I did your cat hissing experiment. It is incredibly difficult, however, to actually try to incorporate that sound into a word. If I get the first part right, it's almost impossible not to fall over your tongue when you attempt to say the rest of the word.

I don't know if this point has already been posted here, but the "ch" sound still exists in the English language. One finds it as the opening sound of the word "huge": "ch-yooge". For instance, to say "Ich", simply say the opening vowel of "ich", then attach the word "huge" to it: Then simply drop the "yooge" part of the word and you are left with "ich"!
