@3213232 1231223 Believe it or not its actually true, ford races and has raced in all forms of car motorsport they do the lot, from WRC which they are the 2nd most successful race winning manufacturer with 91 wins, to f1 as a engine suppler with the ford cosworth engine variants, which they have won 175gp and countless drivers and constructor titles, their the 3rd most successful engine suppler in f1, also even thou ford has only officially won le mans 4 times, in 1978 the Mirage GR8 using the ford cosworth engine won it in 1978 and in 1980 the Rondeau M379B using the ford cosworth engine won it in 1980. I know y'all are very American minded but we wouldn't get the original GT 40 without the brilliant John Wyer, the person behind Aston Martin victory in Le Mans. He is recruited by Ford to run FAV, Ford Advanced Vehicles in Slough, UK who developed early GT40 and still involved with Mk II development with Shelby.

Ifan Ramadhana that mark 1 sucked ass and was unstable at high speeds, Carroll Shelby was the head of development after the brits/ John wyer failed. Yes he was still a part but not in charge. It was the American redesigned mk2 that was the victorious car.

Dentside Pride The fact that Mk I later on win Le Mans not once, but twice. It sorts of give you view on how the Mk I is an excellent platform itself. John Wyer in interview stated that the problem mostly lays in inefficientcy of communication between Slough and Dearborn. And also Henry Ford II demands quick result that small FAV couldn't handle.

chris vinicombe Agreed, don't forget Sunbeam Tiger, Rover V8 and in terms of racing we got Gurney's AAR, Lotus Indy, McLaren Can-Am and Group 44 Jaguar. Not to forget is British engineering company that helps designing Saleen S7 and Panoz Esperante GTR-1.
