Hence why I believe the GTRs wouldn't be even close to as valuable as they are now if they were available in the U.S immediately. Especially seeing as you can get regular skylines here in new zealand for the same price as a civic, and the R33 GTR sells for the price of a basic new car. Sure the R32/R34 would be worth more than the R33, but they wouldn't be hitting these $100k + prices that they do now.

I loved that mustang! I love American muscle cars, but the idea of having a nissan engine in a mustang wasn't because shaun wanted a nissan engine it's because it was what was available for him. Heck if I had a rolling chassis and parts laying around I would have done the same. But yes on some cars it is understandable to swap engines from other manufacturers like in drifting an LS in a JDM because reliability, power, ligntweight, but on some cars I would prefer to keep stock or keeping engine and drivetrain within the same manufacturer.

There is nothing surprising about this. This has been going on for decades. When I worked at a Chevy store back in 1987 a Japanese buyer came over and bought 10 step side pick ups. They were anything from 2 1956 Fords to some '70s and '80s trucks. They also bought a few new Pontiac Fiero Gts, we also had a Pontiac store, which I had to modify to comply with their laws there. I heard stories from way back about the Japanese taking their old American cars, like a 1959 Cadillac, out for a Sunday drive collectively, shutting down the highway and having lunch on the hoods of their cars. There should be nothing surprising about something that has been happening for a long time.

They love euro cars and exotics. Look at those crazy lambos with lights all over the place. And they also like the classic stuff from what I saw on the Internet.

@@solus48 Thanks for the suggestion, I loved Noriyaro's videos but haven't been watching for a while. Guess I should pop back in and see what's new.

@@fabio1826 Oh yeah, have definitely seen the Lambos - those things are crazy! But I was wondering more about the daily driver sort of stuff, like that clip by Mystfire in the video. Japan just has a way with making the regular be extraordinary.

There's a huge European car scene in Japan as well.

Back in the late 90s we had a few Japanese foreign exchange students stay with us and at the time my dad owned a 91 trans am and an 88 turbo tbird. They were IN LOVE with them. My family ended up taking them on a road trip from San Diego to Las Vegas in these cars. I think they had the time of their lives. 😂
