This was the day of great racing. Sure wish we could get back to that era.

Wow, that is without question the best dirt track race I've ever seen! Thank God we have KZbin to catch up on all this great racing! Ricky Graham and Randy Renfro gone too soon. Rip

I remember going to that race. The Sprint car races were good at that track also.

I was between T1 & 2, sitting in the shade in those trees, looking through the chain link fence right on top of the hay bales... pounding cold Buds... gettin' pelted with rocks from the roost off the pack! Damn, Rick Graham RIP. Jim Filice qualified as a wildcard in '88 on a 250 GP bike at Laguna and spanked all those Yurripan boyz. haha Bubba was riding the '84 HRC VF750F in AMA Formula 1, and won the Mid Ohio round in the rain. All these cats were so bleedin' fast! I still have a bunch of San Jose Mile T-shirts, and wear them too. It's a trip when some old guys see it and start remembering SJ and Sacramento!!! The good old days, right?

I was in the stands with my dad at this race. I was 7 years old. My dad was an expert in the 70’s. Used to race Ascot a lot. Great times!

130mph on the dirt is damn exciting! 25 laps must be grueling. Saw a great race at the Santa Fe Speedway in Willow Springs. IL. back in the late 70's.

This was my favorite track back in the 80's. Some of the best dirt track racing of all time was run there. Too bad they don't run at that track anymore.

Chandler and Shobert were a gods. 2 of 4 Grand Slam winners here. Glad I got to see them race. Sad what happened to Bubba.

I was at this race. My first SJ mile was the last year with no mufflers of any kind, 1975, I think. The next year they had the mufflers we see here. And I went to the last SJ mile, in 1988
@georgemoore71962 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the note that the last SJ mile was in 1988. That was the only time I went. What I liked most was the incredible collection of bikes in the parking lot outside.

My dad used to ride dirt bikes with #42 - Steve Morehead. Dad said SM could ride a wheelie all day.

+jaymogamy I can remember my rider racing against these guys and I was the 14 yr old tuner in the pits trying to psyche my rider into beating them. Intimidating, competitive and awesome! Moorhead was great no doubt.

Does anyone know where to get more information on the SJ Mile? I'm from the east coast, love and film flat track and don't know enough... why the hell is it not there - there is NOTHING in San Jose... it needs fun, attractions, etc...
