As a kid who grew up in the 50s this is real music. Music before the day that the music died. My wife and I watched every episode of Sha Na Na's 1977 TV show.

Sha Na Na was the band playing in the National Bandstand scene in the movie GREASE...they sang the HAND JIVE song.

Sha Na Na was awesome; they had a group of really-talented singers and musicians and, of course, performed at Woodstock. Bowser - who was usually the bass singer, not the lead - was a graduate of Julliard at the age of 12 - and a virtuoso keyboardist. You can really hear his training in his powerful voice. The song itself was first released by Dion and the Belmonts, and there's a vid on YT of them doing a modern live performance that is really fun.

The three guys in the gold suits that came on at the end are actually the lead singers of the group. This was basically the band setting down their instruments and taking over for one song.

I remember and grew up listening to Sha Na Na during the 70s and 80s. Miss the sound, rhythm, and lyrics that told stories of young love, heartbreaks, etc. The fabulous 50's music was definitely paved the way for "Rock n Roll" fun. 👌🏽👍🏽👍🏽

There was a bit of a resurgence of 50's/60's music in the 70's due to movies like American Graffiti and Grease and tv shows like Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley

That was Elliot Cahn, not Lou Diamond Phillips. The performance at Woodstock came before this performance, which I think was in Germany. You should react to Get a Job, Whispering Bells or Maybe I’m Old Fashioned next.

How about a reaction to a band from England called Big Daddy. This took 70s popular music and turned into a 50s style song. The first time heard their music was listening to Dr. Demento and the song was a cover of Barry Manilow's I Write the Song

Hi, check out Sha Na Na’s song called “CRYING” or “RUNAWAY”. Originally done by Roy Orbison & Del Shannon. Their rendition is perfection because of the range-of Johnny Contardo’s voice. Do one that will focus on him because of that. He is fantastic and is still preforming, singularity these days. Thanks for sharing this! They were great!
