More evidence of how lucky I grew up in the 70s!! Bruddah, these groups were the norm back in the day!! Still relevant...can't beat good songwriters, acoustic musicians, great vocalists!! Some of the originals here in their 70s and still kicking!!

Just recently inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Why? The Doobie Brothers should have gotten their induction years ago. What a crazy system we live in. They deserved so much more credit than they have gotten. I love their music. "Long Train Runnin".Top 10 on my list 2020

Thanks Wilburn!!! I hadn't seen this performance before. I was blown away too! Not bad for some 60 year old dudes! This performance was superb! The studio versions of the "China Grove" and "Listen to the Music" are truly great because the studios make everything so smooth and perfect!

This song is almost 50 years old now! Let that sink in! The Doobie Brothers were _the hot_ rhythm band of the 1970s. We teenagers loved them and couldn't get enough of them. And they have so many hits--their catalogue is HUGE! Do some more! "Dark Eyed Cajun Woman" is them at their blues picking best. My favourite Doobies song! 🎸🎸🎸🎶🎙️💥💘

Wowza, I've never heard ANYONNNEEEE get THAT kind of sound out of a saxophone in my LIFE!!! Man my band teacher in high school really did us saxophonists dirty with his favouring of the trumpet section and giving them all the cool stuff, I didn't know we were capable of more then than playing a backing dirge for a band. I used to be so jealous of those trumpets players and all the cool stuff they got to do at the front there

These guys were all in their 60s when they did this live version. They were one of the top Bands in the world throughout the 1970s. They were also a lot younger then, in their 20s. Great Band, even almost 50 yrs later.

We had tickets to see the Doobie Brothers last Sept but of course it was postponed due to COVID restrictions. It has been re-scheduled twice. I can't WAIT to see them! This tour is supposed to include both Tom Johnston and Michael McDonald -- I hope that's still true by the time the tour gets to actually happen. This is one of the best bands EVER. This is also when they are older and they are still doing a great job. One Doobie Brother you might have heard before is Michael McDonald. He had some solo hits and duets with Patti La Belle and Aretha Franklin. Your dad might have played some of his songs. I don't believe he was in this video, but as you listen to more Doobie Brothers you see him on keys and singing lead sometimes. His solo song "I Keep Forgettin' " was sampled on the rap song Regulate by Warren G. I learned that from another channel.

Saw them in 1976, in a warehouse, in the summer, in SC. They said it was the hottest venue they had ever played. People were passing out left and right and we all thought we would die. They were so good, when the show was over, I went straight to the ticket window and bought a ticket for the next night. Everyone was so appreciative that they gave their all in this hell hall, bags of weed were flying through the air onto the stage. 😎

You should have seen them in the '70's. I saw them for the first time in 1975. Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana. Bachmann Turner Overdrive opened for them. Fantastic show for my first car date. If you thought they had energy here. Take 46 years off then put them on stage. Heard a lot of great music that night including Long Train Running, China Grove and Listen to the Music.

This is a fairly recent live show -- the camera phones in the audience alone will tell you that. Tom Johnston's voice still sounds supple and strong. This is one of the best songs of the Doobies' initial rock or country-rock phase (the others being "China Grove" and "Black Water," with a little "Listen to the Music" or even their cover of "Jesus is Just Alright" on the side). Several years after this song was released, the band shifted into a substantially different sound, with "blue-eyed soul" singer Michael McDonald primarily fronting the band. They had singles that were as big or even bigger hits (e.g., "Takin' It To the Streets,","It Keeps You Runnin'" and of course, "What a Fool Believes") which were fine, but did not appeal to me as much as this earlier phase of the band, which rocked harder.
