Great skill, you mean. Some talent too, of course. One may be born with the rhythm and pitch of a musician, a genius already. But it takes skill to play the instruments the way they do. They aren't born with that ability.

Well said, Mike. This is such a beautiful song and I love Another Park. Saw them 4 times back in the 70s. Superb musicians. John on the slide is so cool. He plays so many instruments and really is the heart of the band. Really adds to their wonderful sound. My favorite band. Unlike some others that I like, I play their albums all the way thru with no skipping. They are that good at writing and playing. So glad to see them still together after 50 years.

It was a South Lake Tahoe lady that saved me. We were married for almost thirty years. I use to to watch her as she slept, asking God what I ever did to deserve such an amazing, beautiful, loving woman. She passed almost six years ago from cancer. Sometime's when I come home at the end of the day I'll smell her perfume in different parts of the house. No one has been in the all day. I miss her touch, her smile along with her true love way's.The feeling I use to get in the pit of my stomach that would take my breathe away when thinking her.The goosebumps I would leave in the morning (no it wasn't from the morning chill) it was from knowing that we would be together at days end. This ‘73 release is a lovely melody and lyric that started as an album number but has grown through the years to become an extraordinary example of faithful arrangement. This version, which I think is about the seventh or eighth, deserves very close listening to appreciate the many musical and sonic elements that have been marshaled to the song. I love the song and i believe it shows the consummate musicianship of the Doobies, as well as their devotion to the song itself. God bless all of them and their rich and deeply moving work.

I can still remember sitting in my dorm room taking a break from study and listening to this song on my Realistic stereo turntable in the clear, crisp sound uniquely produced by an unscratched vinyl LP. I was missing my girlfriend who was 500 miles away at a different school. Great feelings and great memories that only time and long passed youth can enhance.
