i can only speak to the ones I've had, but the FJR1300 is very comfy. Its lighter than those Harley's...Perhaps you could get on one of those larger sport touring bikes before you make your final decision..

I can only speak of those I've owned as well. Currently my favorite food touring and adventure is my tiger 850 sport. Now if you are looking for on road touring, if recommend the ninja 1000sx. Motorcyclist labeled it the gentlemen's sport tourer. Good on power plenty fast when you need it, and excellent manners.

Well only have really rode one bagger and that my own and it is a Road King Classic it few years old like 20 and I am sure the newer ones are even more comfortable. Just our local road, which are two lane State roads that wind through the foot hills.

I recently traded in my Street Triple R (and another bike) for a S1000XR and I have to say, I dont think I will ever look back. Riding around urban areas is def nicer on the Street Triple but now as a suburb house owner, the XR can just crush all the highway/SR miles I want that the Street Triple would just be a bit too much on after 2+ hrs. Has all the power you need, the 4 riding modes to give you the response you want for the roads you are on, and the comfort level is just fantastic. For a bike as big as it is, how nimble it can be to me was the most surprising thing. XR all day, everyday.

I think that was a very fair review. I took a Tiger 660 for a demo ride with a view to replacing my VStrom 650. I am a little over 6' 1" and like you I found the seat hard, I also felt the rear suspension was harsh but most importantly I found the foot controls a little small. A short brake lever is not really an issue, but the short gear level could be really troublesome to find for downward shifts. After a couple of fun hours I took the bike back to the dealers and said 'no thanks', the handling is great, the engine works well from low to high revs, the fuelling is very nice and smooth but it just didn't have what I am looking for. I'd say up to 6' it is fine, over 6' you definitely need to ride it and see if you are comfortable. I'd like to try the Tiger 850, but over here in the UK they are all sold before they even get to the dealers.

Great review. Surprised on the seat. I sat on one just like yours and the seat didn't feel too bad. Felt similar to my 850 sport which is super comfortable on long trips. Good comparison to the competition. I will say that the TIger 660 is leaps and bounds ahead of the Versys 650. That engine and transmission platform is a dog. The downshifts are hard. No issue with upshifts, but downshifting, yeah it was problematic. It felt and performed exactly the same on the Ninja 650. The other note is that the Versys 650 was definitely taller. I looked like you dangling your legs on bot sides. On the Tiger 660, I have no issues putting both feet down. The best thing about the Tiger is that it is a Triple. Love the sound and linear power curve. Keep up the great reviews.

I purchased this bike in April, I’ve taken this bike on some very long trips, your review is probably the most accurate, cruise control and more comfortable seat is a must. I’ve also added bar end weights and grip puppies as the vibration on long trips was killing my wrist and thump. Great review.

Had my Tiger 660 Sport for 11 months. I have added: Custom seat, Custom screen (sports) Rad guard, Number Plate tidy, Bobins, Panniers. I test rode the new 900 and 1200 Ralley Sports yesterday. I won't bore you with the details but I am keeping my bike. I expected to be blown away and drop some serious coin, but actually getting back on my bike made me realise how much I totally love my 660 Sport.

This Tiger Sport 660 will be ridden most of the time Monday through Thursday in my everyday riding. That should keep 10k miles off my other bike. It’s fun! I enjoy it. It’s easier in parking garages and other city riding.

Honestly at 6ft with a 33in inseam, the only thing that really gets uncomfortable is legs, although that is usually on longer highway stints. I got the tiger for secondary commuting and it's awesome. I wish it had about 20ish more HP but, then it probably wouldn't be rated for 87 octane gas.

First, you are a rare breed. Few riders begin with comfort in mind and buy based on impressing others only to trade a new model for another that actually fits in the first place. While my current isn't my first, the now discontinued Victory Vegas is the best of both worlds as far as cruisers go in comfort and performance. I put over 13,000 miles zig-zaging the upper U.S. from western Pennsylvania on secondary roads to Crescent City, CA down the 101 to Fresno before returning east through Death Valley and Santa Fe, NM. Two days shy of six full weeks, solo, in 2012 and the Vegas performed flawlessly! Finally, only thing that ever hurts on me after an extended trip are my inner hip joints. Not so much from the motorcycle but from age! Europe in 7 years when I retire at 62!!!

I own the Blue Sport 660 like the one you demoed, and I also own a Tiger 800 ... I'm a Triumph guy. The seat on the Sport 660 is hard, not as comfy as the stock on the Tiger 800. I only have a 30" inseam so I'm waiting on the Lower "comfort" seat to see if that makes any difference, but I can manage the seat height of the Sport 660 fine. As for Power, one must remember, this is a 660 ... Not an 800+, 1000+ and so on. "Power" is really only relative on the straights, once in the corners, it's all rider skill. What is important is the Smile factor. :-) Posted Speed Limits out here in the West are 70 and 80 mph and the Sport does fine at those speeds, and higher. Again, it's a 660, so just enjoy.

I missed out on this bike. I bought the Trident 660 in late ‘21 not knowing this was coming out next year. I’m 6’1 and after sitting on this bike, I find the position and leg angle much better. It’s my first bike and ended up being a mostly hwy rider so the wind deflection in the Tiger would be a huge benefit. Otherwise good bike. Sounds great with an exhaust, not common like a Japanese bike.

I'm 5'10"+ and can flat foot it no problem. If you dont like the stock seat, you will hate the lower seat (think of plywood covered in plastic). This bike is a whole lot faster than interstate speed limits. My only complaints are the throttle response is slow, and it takes a long push to crank. 1/3 of the dealer options i purchased are still not available 4-5 months after purchase and i stood in the same place you did at Triumph Roswell when i bought it.

I love it that you're not intimidated by the seat height or weight of a bike, and find ways around them. I really hope that biking becomes more popular among women. It's a little to do with self interest, I'm 5ft 7 and prefer bikes 810mms and under. There do seem to be more lower seat options available, however. Which is great for all.

If I never have to leave pavement, my Sprint ST will always be my first choice for a trip. It's basically a Tiger 660 with more power, more wind protection, and a more sporting riding position which I find very comfortable. Sad to say I don't see much on the market right now that's similar, maybe the GSXS1000GT+. If I will leave pavement at any point of my trip, I'd definitely take my V-Strom, although I find the more upright riding position gives me a sore lower back after a couple hours, just means I have to take more breaks. My wife definitely prefers the pillion on the 'Strom so it's also the go-to for two-up. If you get the chance, check out Rim Rock Drive in Colorado National Monument someday. I've never done it on a bike, but I took a buddy camping out there one time and the sheer drops and tight turns had my buddy trying to crawl over to my side of the car a few times.

I have an F800GS and I sit on it just like that. Slight scoot from side to side to trade feet. I have to be careful with the side stand when there's even a little bit of slope side to side. If the side stand is on the uphill side, sometimes I can't get it leaned over enough (downhill) to retract the stand. Sometime I just have to move it like yours. Tall bike is worth it, though.

I had a test ride on the Tiger this past weekend thanks to the helpful people at Triumph, some of them were in your earlier video when you picked up the loaner. I'm six inches taller but with two inch shorter legs and I was fine. Definitely not flat-footing though. Overall it feels a lot like my CB500X but with more of everything - brakes, suspension, wind coverage and power but not additional bulk. It was solid at interstate speeds unlike the CB. Got lots of air over the windshield but it was clean enough to not have buffeting. Pretty impressive overall considering the price point they hit. A Russel Day-Long seat would go a long way on this one however.

Reeeally like my RE INT650 with GIVI hard cases. Love the engine and trans. Sat on the Tiger (again) when I just took the INT650 in for service, and this time the tiny bit of extra seat height felt like nothing (5'6" 31 inseam). It felt easier to upright than the RE, it had side cases mounted, and I'm now smitten! I really like the RE and was trying to be frugal when I got it, having just gotten back into motorcycling, but now I think I should have just went with a Tiger, and will eventually end up with one. Hindsight is 20/20.....great review. Thanks (.......and white helmet with white jacket looks next level. Waaay cooler than.....yaaaawn another all black copy cat).

Great review. Thank you for your honest opinion. I have a Tiger 900 GT Pro. I put engine guards on it and recently I put some fold-out footpegs on those guards. I can't begin to tell you what having that extra foot position to stretch out my legs does for me. Why did I wait so long to put those footpegs on the guards? I have ridden cruisers and like you, I admit you can't beat the riding position for long highway rides. They are very comfortable. I however love to lean in the twisties and cruiser baggers are not really made for that. I think I finally found the best of both worlds with my Tiger. Like you, I plan on replacing the seat this month hopefully with my birthday coming up. I am taller than you at 5 feet 7 inches with a 32-inch inseam so I do get some wind noise even with a bigger aftermarket windscreen. I also put 2 inch bar backs to give me a slightly better riding position. Most of my rides are day rides in the hill country here in Texas. I usually take a 2-4 day trip once a year. I am looking forward to seeing how this bike feels on a longer multi-day trip.

AFAIK the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT is only available in the US - not the 7 nor the non-GT tracer 9. In the midsize “adv” tourers triumph has a winner, I’d definitely pick it over the Versys 650 which I’ve ridden, the Vstrom 650 from Suzuki also a strong contender in this class

Cool. Looks a great bike. they don't import the full power version where I live so got a Street Triple R. BWT good on you for riding those baggers. Inspiring!

The Tiger serie from Triumph is their " tt" bikes . . as such, they are higher for ground clearance off road. . .

Nice review. No mention of the 650 VStrom? Great bike. I am riding my wife's today.

Short riders on tall bikes equals lots of fun. As long as there's not a lot of slow speed maneuvering.

just gotta practice the slow speeds and then that part's fun too!

Doodle did you ever think about using an air mattress for the seat? You should do a review on that subject.

@@DoodleOnAMotorcycle I have seen reviews on “AirHawk”…. But that’s $100 a pop! Also seen others for $25-$50…. Please keep me posted on the subject.

Hello! How are the videos made in which the camera seems to float around and in front of the bike, even at highway speeds? Thanks! An Old Britbike Rider!

do you have a video where you explain that steering bar turning right and making the bike upright from the side stand?

Hey Doodle, did you ever do a review video on the Triumph Tiger 850 or the 900cc, thanks.

Man what a great review 👏 those bags are huge and one question is a lower bike better than a higher one for a new rider in your opinion thanks. A great Friday a doodle video and a cup of coffee in my doodle mug happy and safe riding.

Came to my 660 from a Tiger XC 800, to me it feels like it is paper weight and super low height, but I am 180cm tall so that helps :D having a blast with this bike :D

Excellent review and video! So if you were looking for the best all around bike which would you chose? And you think the Road King is better or more comfortable on the road? It seems like the lighter bike and the luggage capacity would go to the Triumph. I am trying to decide if I should get rid of my Police RK for something like this because of the weight of the bike which makes it not fun for around the town riding and short rides. Going the gas station is work on the RK? Any thoughts about what you would do? And your matching apparel and boots is amazing! I need to better coordinate. I was tying to see what kind of boots and jeans/pants you were wearing. That jacket looks good too! Thanks

Hi Doodle! New subscriber! What model is your camera you use that's pointing back to you? Thx!

One i would think of comparable to the Tiger Sport 660 with a lower seat, is the BMW F750GS. If you can review this bike, it would be awesoeme!. Love your content. Big fan!

Eh, it’s pretty standard that factory seats suck. Definitely see if you can get ahold of a Yamaha T9. Height should be ok for you as it’s comparable to the Tiger. T9 was on top of my list until I sat on the Tiger 900gt pro which felt like coming home to me.

at 6' my legs are cramped more than my 500x; sitting upright comfy. Wish this had a huge, widelong passenger seat
