Thank you so much to Triumph for letting me borrow the Trident for a week. With 660cc, 416 lbs wet, and a 31.7" seat height, it's one of the most short rider and beginner friendly mid level bikes I've ridden this year. As a short rider that usually commutes in town, I had a great time with this bike in the city, on the highway, and in the Blue Ridge mountain roads.

Good point about beginners being able to use the "rain mode" setting on the Trident. It reduces the power level and will allow someone to become familiar with riding and get the feel of this particular motorcycle. Beginners have enough to think about without needing to worry that they might accidentally accelerate too hard.

I like that feature. It enables for new riders to grow with the bike, rather than selling your 300cc. I for example don't want to keep on selling bike, since I'll probably financing the bike for 48 months.

I test rode this bike for about 45 minutes two or three weeks ago. 80hp is great amount of power for two wheels, but I wasn't expecting much. The moment I swung my legs across this bike, I fell in love. I fell in love harder when the I twisted the throttle and heard the roar of this motorcycle. Wow! Refinement was also lovely. Just before riding the Trident though, I had ridden the Z900 and even though the Z is more desirable, the Trident js more practical choice. I currently ride a Honda CB350 Highness which has one cylinder and generates 21hp, so it was quite thrilling to get a feel of a big bike❤

I wonder if there is a way to capture each motorcycle's exhaust sound, while still hearing you narrate the videos. As you probably know, each bike has a distinct sound, and it's always nice to hear, as well as see, the subjects of your road tests. Imagine watching the Blue Angels jets flying by at 600 mph ... and hearing nothing... As it is, it's like watching an electric bike being evaluated.. :^)

For anyone going WOW…for the price. Keep in mind that Triumph is one of the last to still charge for freight/setup. Tacks on another +$1000-1300. All of a sudden it’s a $10,000 bike not including tax and licensing.

Nice! Looking forward to your overall comparison. I have an FZ07 and test drove a Trident to compare them myself.. my feeling was that the Trident was actually TOO smooth, it took away from the raw connection to the bike and road that you get from the Yamaha. So smooth that it felt almost like an automatic transmission that you pretended to shift yourself. Guess it comes down to preference, but both are great bikes

Thank you, Doodle, for a very relaxing style of reviewing bikes. You've help me get to the emotional aspect of the bikes you review which is more important then the specs. At first I didn't like the look of this Triumph then it started to grow on me. Now it's on my short list. And it is a very short list (mostly Triumphs).

I bought the Trident 660. I'm in love! But I spent almost a year trying to get a 675 Street Triple, before the Trident 660 was released. The biggest question I haven't been able to answer is: Did I make the right choice choosing the Trident over the Street Triple? The dealer won't let me test ride Street Triples. I would love to see this revisited but a more direct comparison to the Street Triple! (I'll even loan you my Trident for the vid 😆)
@DoodleOnAMotorcycle
@DoodleOnAMotorcycle 2 жыл бұрын
It really is subjective - if you want a little more power than the Trident the 675 has it, but it is also heavier and more top heavy. I haven’t used all the power my 675 has in 3 years of owning it 🤪

@@DoodleOnAMotorcycle Wonderful! That helps a ton! I actually traded my VFR in for the Trident because the VFR had too much horsepower, and it makes less than the 675. 😃

I don't think they're that comparable. 675 is much faster, revs much higher and is more performance focused. It will annihilate a trident. The trident is a fun, easy going respectable machine that is probably better for bopping around town.

For me the Mt07 and the trident are the best beginner bike. It’s easy and nimble for new bikers. You will feel so comfortable and it’s not intimidating. Driven the 07 for about 18 thousand Kms and wanted to switch to the trident but changed my mind to something bigger. You cannot go wrong with either one of these bikes. The beat of the 07 or the triple of the trident is fantastic. Ride safe bikers and watch out for us car people. Thanks.

I've noticed you often refer to a bike's peak power compared to another bike and reflect that one feels more powerful than the other, even though the numbers suggest otherwise. Perhaps including some power curves from dyno charts would be useful? That would show what power is actually being made at the rpm you typically ride, rather than the peak power.

i have the bike, i was looking at the 765 and due to pricing and apr, went with the trident instead.i am so happy i did, the bike is loads of fun and the fuel mileage is absurdly good. It is small so fits in my shed with no issue, and I have had it past a 45 degree lean angle without pegs hitting on street, so it definitely can tip over with the big boys. Because it only makes 80hp you can pin the throttle coming out of a turn without worrying too much about the back coming out, in other words you can really ride the bike aggressively even on the street. I felt i can get about 90% of the bikes full potential out of it on the street vs 70% from a dedicated sport bike. Being able to get 90% out just feels better when you turn off the ignition if we are being honest, and knowing your bike was 5,000usd less than a street triple is also nice! However the down side is it tops out at 133mph, and from say 100-133mph is way slower than a dedicated sport bike. The trident loves 0-90mph, anything above that it will do just not what it is good at. Another thing I am not a huge fan of is the sound, it is not bad but for me it sounds worst upgrading exhaust, it sounds like a civic not a bike. Stock exhaust are fine but again nothing grand about the exhaust note, nothing bad, just nothing special. It looks great from all sides until someone is riding it, in my opinion the back looks too much like a scooter if someone is on the bike.

I’ve got 2 Triumphs DOAM….among some other toys in the shed.🤭 My good mate here in Australia, some years ago had a Street Triple 675. At the time he’d been off bikes for “several” years & in all honesty should never have been on one!😖 Anyway he complained many times about noise from his Shoei helmet. Not cheap hey? I mentioned it’s more likely the after market Arrow exhaust system being too loud. Anyway I offered to take said bike wearing said helmet for a quick blast. Super impressed with that triple, I came back grinning from ear to ear. At the time my main bike was a BMW S1000RR.😈💪🏼 I said “Mate it’s not your helmet, not your exhaust… Um what gear are you riding around town in?” He says “Oh 3rd? Why?…” I just burst out laughing & said “No wonder, you’re wringing it neck!”😡🤪😂🤣 After that he said the helmet was fine.🤭🤪 Great little bike & great, fun review! 😎👍🏼🇦🇺

You talk about Torque and Horse Power. . Torque is the ability to pull a load while Horse Power is the ability to accelerate. . Big twins have lot of torque but low h/p so they will accelerate strongly at lower revs but will run out of steam earlier ,. . . 4 cylindres engine have less power to accelerate at low rpm but will keep on accelerate more and more as the rpm climb closer to the red line of the tach. . .I prefre Triumph tripples , they have both, the best compromise for me

400 CC or under or 650ish Twins and triple are speced for the Europe/U.K./Aus market. That is why the power and torque figures are so close. Euro Spec bikes sold in America. IIRC the only outlier is Honda 650s which run 4 cylinders.

After deciding between the MT-07 and this for my first bike, I came home saturday with a baja orange trident. So far am loving the bike, and Triumph of Roswell was very painless to work with in purchasing. Cant wait to get my 600 mile break in done!

I enjoy your videos. When i decided to get a motorcycle, I looked for other women on youtube who ride motorcycles to get advice. I was a little shocked by how few there were, and by the differences from the other videos. I'm not dismissing videos by men, just that I appreciate the difference. Thank you for your content, I learned alot from you.

I’ve been considering this as a beginner bike vs. a Royal Enfield himalayan. Any thoughts on feedback?

Ok Doodle, now that you rode the Trident for a while, see if you can get your hands on the Royal Enfield 650 for a comparison.

Pound foot... Pound per foot... I.E. A pound of weight - a foot away from the centre of rotation... Loved the vid, The Trident does look a great bike.
