You should try with the REDUX 2.0 on top! ;) I made an extreme version of Doom 3. REDUX 2.0 120 fps and a lot of other custom stuff that just makes the game INCREDIBLE and pop! It has to be the OG DOOM 3 PC version as a base. With hi res textures and all that its amazing! waayyy better than vanilla and the 120fps on top is the best..

The only sad thing btw is that the PDA displays in 4:3 ratio but i can life with that.

Im setting this up right now since BFG edition is pretty bad, but 120fps is a game changer. I appreciate your video, but the main problem is that you have something that could be explained in one minute that is stretched out to 17+ minutes

Hello can you please tell me why my mod is not working. And so I have a laptop with discrete graphics. RTX 2050 and a 144 hertz screen. I do everything according to the instructions as in the video first put dhewm3 1.5.1 win32 zip and throw those files that are shown in the video in the root folder of the game further without going into it immediately put dhewm3 unlocked fps v3 zip also all files I throw into the game folder with replacement further go into the game with exe dhewm3 I put my resolution and full screen and reload the game further I turn on vertical synchronization and also restart the game and enter the command in the console com_gameHZ = 144 and restart the game and again go into the same exe dhewm3 and for some reason after that I have in the game from the very splash screen 10 fps as in the main menu and actually in the gameplay. What am I doing wrong?

Just found myself the solution to the problem is all because of the sign exactly = nothing worked out and in the game was after that 10 fps. Spent on the search for this solution 3 hours different tried but only you carefully saw that you do not write = at the end before the number of fps. God how happy I am that the game runs smoothly at 144 Hz.

When copying dhewm3__1.5.1_win32 folder it does not ask to replace files at destination, but when copying dhewm3_unlockedfps folder it does ask for file replacement at destination like expected. I then tried launching it through dhewm3 shortcut but the fps is still at 60 even with vsync on, and my resolution of 3440 by 1440 isnt even one of the options. Is there a fix for my issues?

I don't know, I did see anywhere that you said you used the correct console command for the FPS patch. If it isn't working, start over and follow every thing step-by-step for the steam version. If you skipped around in the video you likely missed something.

for some strange reason I cant get the redux mod to launch and I'm using the same version. Seems the FPS unlock prevents most all my mods from launching

I've done everything right and it shows 120 fps in the top right, but no way in hell is this smooth 120 hz. It looks like a choppy 90 at best. Does anyone know what's wrong with the internal framerate? maybe an amd cpu problem? It displays 120 on the ingame com_showfps counter and in hwinfo, but the frame timing is jumping around like crazy.

I also tried lowering the resolution to 1080 from 4k and it didn't change anything

does 144 or 240 break the physics in any way? that is kind of a thing in the bfg edition. jumping on and off railings is especially broken when you are playing on more than 60fps. the more fps, the worse it is. the slopes of the railings can also kinda pull you downwards, making you die from fall damage at a safe height.

No, the FPS patch here doesn't break any physics that I have seen. The only two things are every now and then you need to restart the game as I showed, and sometimes the Oxygen meter tick downs faster than normal. That's about it.

@@Shvok just to let you know, i just tested it and it's the same as in the BFG edition - some physics issues. however, this is redundant for most people as they won't be jumping around railings and such. i will make it work for my own purpose. thanks for the video :)

@@lekolega I've honestly never noticed, I tend to bunny hop all over the place, and do boosts. I'll have to test it more

Have you tested with The Lost Mission Campaign mod? It's compatible with Dhewm 3, but I'm not sure it's compatible with the FPS unlock mod...

@@Shvok I've just tested it. Unfortunately, if the game runs above 60Hz, it runs too fast, changes the game pace. Looks like The Lost Mission campaign is better to be played in BFG Edition, which at least runs at 120Hz

The dhewm 1.5.1 not support controller right? The latest version 1.5.3 has full controller support but no fps unlock feature like the 1.5.1 .... can you clarify that the version 1 5.1 can support controller or not? Thank you very much.

Oh and did you try the latest 1.5.3 of dhewm3? because I with the newest version, the command "com_gameHz" is not there. It says unrecognized command.

Dude this was so helpful! Excellent, concise and well formatted video. I just happened to be installing Redux 2.0 and was googling how to uncap the fps when this video showed up. Doom 3 is looking great now. One question though, EAX 4.0 turned on the reverb seems really over the top. Are there any resources on how to go about tweaking this or how it should be set up? The link to the Tweak Guide in the description no longer works. It's not a big deal if not, I was just interested to see how it might sound. Perfectly fine with playing with standard audio. Anyway, thanks again for the video!

The reverb is somewhat broken if you don't have a Sound Blaster sound card. Nothing I know of to fix it directly

@@Shvok Sorry one last question; is it possible to bypass having to open Dhewm 3 and then loading Redux 2.0 through the mod menu each time? I know there is a way to add a launch function to Doom 3 in Steam which will load Redux in it's stead, but obviously we load through the Dhewm 3 exe and not Steam at all

Fantastic video! Worked amazingly, even for RoE. Is there any way to increase the FPS without using Dhewm 3 and having the game become unreasonably fast?

@@theodorefsharpe glad it worked for RoE, I had no such luck. As for making it work without Dhewm, no. There isn't, this is the only way.

Try adding +set com_allowconsole 1 to the launch options for the game in the exe you are trying to use. Also make sure you are using the correct exe.

ive tried for a whole WEEK to get this working, yet no matter how hard i try loading saves is completely broken with dhewm 3 and this mod

Did you use the exact versions I outlined in here? If so it's likely you skipped a step, I also said NOT to use old or previous saves. Delete all saves and start from a fresh install.

@@Shvok it's on new saves too, i've tried literally everything and it just refuses to load saves, really infuriating. i just gave up honestly. for some reason sounds are worse in dhewm 3 compared to doom 3, so i'm using a mod for that and i guess it isn't compatible with the fps unlocking mod which is a huge dealbreaker to me.

@@user-ru4kb2ri1b Yeah other mods are not compatible with the FPS mod. You need to use only the mods I outlined and the versions of them.

@@user-ru4kb2ri1b Also if the sound is an issue for you, the FPS mod works on the base game with no other mods installed. Dhewm3 is just the only other one verified working with it.

Did you actually watch the video? I show everything, where to get Doom, and the launcher. Doom is on Steam, and the launcher download is in the description....
