Snapmap was really fun, but it should've had more assets, skybox support and more complex tools. It would've been 10/10 then. Still, I enjoyed making custom campaigns and custom scripted objects and such.

@@bajszosjozsef4850 Prodeus an indie game has a better editor than Snapmap where the levels can be shared cross platform. Snapmap you can't even adjust the height of the ceiling. Snapmap is absolutely pathetic and less advanced than even some level editors on console games. Also I don't even like Prodeus, but my point stands.

​@saurelius5217 I do agree that snapmap needed more assets. But I disagree that it was pathetic. The reason it didn't get more assets is because it didn't get that much attention. The devs wanted to make something that was quick and fairly easy to use so people can make there own games fairly quick. Alot of people don't want to sit there for weeks or months putting a game together. If you want something more complicated go to amnesia the dark descent or any amnesia game. Amnesia doesn't have multiplayer but it is more advanced than snapmap. Also not every gamer has knowledge of c++. Which brings me to my next point. The coding was easier in snapmap because not alot of people have knowledge of c++ or c#. If it got more attention and we didn't have people like you that say it was pathetic we might have gotten more stuff for it. Saying it is pathetic is ignorant and just plain garbage. People have made some really cool things with snapmap. If you don't like it then that's your problem

@@xgamerunknown6414 Snapmap was just a lazy way to give people something when the company themselves, or their parent company didn't want to provide proper tools. You can look at a game like Prodeus from an indie developer and it's level editor while has it's own issues, is far more advanced than snapmap and the maps made from it can also work on consoles as it only store coordinates of objects and such and thus are also small files. With the Prodeus editor you can actually adjust the height of the ceiling and floor. Wow, what a novel concept.

Modding support for Doom Eternal makes a lot of sense. I've always thought that at least a comprehensive but easy-to-use custom level creator (something like Forge in Halo) was warranted for Eternal, considering it's creative and passionate player base. That said, it would've been nice to have these in, like, 2021, or at least early 2022. Oh well.

They shouldve kept Snapmap in from Doom 2016. It had so much potential and if they just added it a bit more polish, it couldve been better than Halos Forge. I get why it was taken out just glad were getting mod support now to prolong the games life.

I think that Doom Eternal gets extremely boring after one playthrough and has 0 replayability, it feels incredibly dull compared to Doom 2016. 2016 at least had a normal multiplayer and a way to play custom maps just like the older games that had wads and lan parties. Eternal has... skins and a goofy ah ah story and very lame violence, expected it to be more brutal like, faster paced, its a slog to play with slow boring movement and slow guns. Movement like Titanfall would have been far cooler cus at least in the first doom game (1993) you could run super fast and had massive levels.

Honestly I still don't understand why Eternal shipped without something as simple as Snapmap was. I would trade Battlemode with Snapmap any day of the week. I'm still holding out hope they'll eventually release the cancelled invasion mode that was planned, it would give me a reason to play the campaign again. I love Eternal, but after 400 hours on it I really don't have any reason to keep playing, especially since I don't really like Battlemode. First time I see a game sponsor that is actually tied with the subject of the video, Wrath is an amazing game and you'll like it if you like Doom.

I know this isn't relevant, but there's a free mod which technically uses the DOOM 2 engine. It's called total chaos, about a mentally ill man called Tyler going to an island called Fort oasis where it has been taken over by monsters and he struggles to deal with the Dark arts of his mind. It's quite a well made mod, even having things like crafting, inventory management, weather effects and weapon durability You might want to try it out

I hope when they finally release this update they do a few more bug fixes for the game to top it off. Maybe add another master level as a fairwell for the game before finally ending official support. I'm thinking maybe a blood swamps master level would be cool. And it would round out the experience having 1 master level per dlc plus the 4 from the base campaign.

I agree! There is videos suggesting that they at least “were” working on some additional master levels but they of course haven’t released. Hell on Earth, Exultia, and Doom Hunter Base were the master levels teased. It would be awesome if they included those, some bug fixes, and the Mod support in a 6.66 Rev 3 update at Quakecon 2024.

This version of Doom available for modding!? HELL YEAH!!! Okay don't think me TOO out there, but here are some ideas for mods. AVP DOOM - Doomguy vs demons Xenomorphs AND the Yautja! (predators) A Hazbin Hotel Mod of Doom, I mean come on, there's a lot of fans out there who would secretly want that just for fun. Maybe have it to where in one KZbinr's depiction, you're sent to another hell in another realm and you have to have Charlie's help to get home. Or you wake up and you're headed down to Hell with the Exterminators to slay Hell's inhabitants and you slowly, but surely learn from Charlie, Vaggie, and several of the others, maybe even some of the chars from Helluva Boss that you've been lied to and that the Exterminators are just using you as a puppet for their own entertainment and you end up fighting the Exterminators, not Charlie and the rest of Hell's Inhabitants. DOOM Anarchy - Where you're still the slayer, but you have two bad-mouthing allies - Panty and Stocking Anarchy! Of course, a DOOM Eternal MOD with Isabelle from Animal Crossing. Here's one I JUST thought up - The Day of the Slayer - Where you have not just Doomguy, but the marines from Doom3 and ROE and several other Champions from different realms brought together to destroy an ultimate evil for the sake of the Multiverse, or for the sake of their realms. A few ideas there, just Ideas, you watching ID Software?

Honestly, I'm pretty sceptical about that "mod portal" thing. One thing is to provide an open API and development kit, and other is creating a walled garden of "approved" mods. id Software is a part of Zenimax like Bethesda. Another "Creation Club" like in Skyrim and Fallout 4 won't make the game live forever like OG Doom. Also that's the only way to make mods for consoles and id will probably try not to exclude that chunk of their playerbase. Hope I'm wrong about this.

The original doom games are still being played daily on a religious level today but majorly because of the years of work done by the modding community. For e.g I join a coop server that has over 200 fan created coop survival maps. In between each map you join the lobby map where you grab your weapons, power ups and rank based bonuses ready for the next map. Tons of extra immersive monsters, guns, player skins, power ups. A rank system, new and plentiful music... 3 different types of each weapon works lol. All of it fits in well with the original game design. Obviously I would always likely dive back into the original single player game now and then over the the years for some nostalgia but the mods have definitely helped with replay factor on another level. It would be good to see the modding realm on the new games follow suit.

I'm ashamed to admit, but I haven't even played the expansions and I have both of them. I just ended up going back to classic Doom and been playing with mods on that. DOOM: Gods Reborn. After the events of doom eternal doom guy was reborn and is forced to fight a new evil god of creation. He pushes his way through new demons and gets to him. Then he figures out the god is a demon as big as mars. He fights to the death with this new god who has a whole new attack pattern and once he kills him he assumes his position as the god of creation. The final DOOM. but with modding support this time.
