I bet Rob wrote "Snap. Crackle. Pop." Also, this comic is why I thought The Pact was a parody
@teambloodforce3 ай бұрын
It certainly sounds like the kind of thing Rob would start a comic with.

Never realized this book actually came out. I remember the ads more than the comic

Oh good, it wasn't just me

Exactly. Same here

I was about to say the same thing- I assumed it was more Extreme Studios vaporware like the Youngblood series by Kurt Busiek, Warchild by Alan Moore, etc
@teambloodforce4 ай бұрын
@@nivekleveb8872 shocking, right? Although apparently that Busiek thing did kind of come out eventually; something called Youngblood: Genesis came out in 2003, with someone I've never heard of drawing it. But Genesis is like Year One, I think they’re the same thing.
@teambloodforce4 ай бұрын
@nivekleveb8872 the real vaporware is the Brigade kickstarter, which 500 people successfully funded back in 2013 and which Rob never followed through on.

great video. i have all four of these. i find the idea for the brick character very interesting. just bought those two wolverine what if issues

The second What If I've never bothered looking at, the first one is one of my favourite issues from this time.

Great video. Enjoy your reviews. May need to check out Doom's IV. Looks like one of the better Image comics of the era.

While I didn't mean to give the impression it was good, I will admit there are certainly far worse comics by Extreme around this time. Thanks for watching, bud!

There's a heated exchange between Mark Pacella and Larry Hama (who hated Pacella's work on Wolverine), worth googling for. Physical violence is mentioned.
@teambloodforce4 ай бұрын
That sounds entertaining. Must have been tough for Larry, going from Silvestri to Tex to (eugh) Pacella. He's a little better on Doom's IV here at least, but still not good.

Outside of that 1/2 issue from Wizard and an evil eye from Marvel, I don't remember anything about this.
@teambloodforce3 ай бұрын
Evil eye because of Doctor Doom, or evil eye because it's an FF ripoff? I guess we can just file it under 'general forgettable ff shenanigans'.

I just want to point out that on the page with the huge head, the BIG LEADER I assume, in the lower left corner for SOME reason there's an "IMAGE" logo just as plain as the eyepatch on that guys face. I've been trying to figure out why that's there at all and the only two conclusions I can come up with is that either that image was an aborted cover attempt or someone was being silly. I hope it's the latter cause that's just dumb otherwise. Also your depiction of Kurt Hathaway as editor and scriptwriter reminded me of George Ryan's "Pitch Meetings" where he plays both the writer and the producer as he analyses how a movie might have gotten pitched to a studio. It's some of the funniest shit on YT and if you haven't seen any of them DO IT! NOW!! :D That's it for me. Great vid once again. Take care and TTYL. :D
@teambloodforce4 ай бұрын
Oh shit, you're right. But no, that couldn't be meant to be a cover. It's just... no, I won't believe that. Maybe promo material, I don't know, y'know? They can superimpose that shit in real easy, I honestly don'y know what anyone is thinking there. Is he suggesting this is good enough to be the cover, and what you made me draw was unnecessary, Rob? That would be pretty dumb, although apparently those two had a contentious relationship. Who even knows with these goofs. And I will potentially check out your pitch meetings at some point in the future! Not today, probably not tomorrow, good chance not next month. But soon, to be sure!

Oh yeah, I didn't mean to say it was going to be good at all. I just imagined it to be basically unreadable, and I can't quite say that.

This is a prime example of “why can’t I get in comics if they’ve printed this”?
@teambloodforce4 ай бұрын
Yeah, I mean there is a reason, which is that it's not 1994 and you don't, like, deliver Rob's newspaper or whatever. Those were the specific circumstances it took to get fast tracked into comics back in the day. That said, I'm sure Pacella's name still carries a bit of weight, and if that's the case by all means we should all feel entitled to a bit of success.
@johnepple8544 ай бұрын
@@teambloodforce I don’t mean to knock on someone’s success. It’s just disheartening seeing work of this quality for whatever company. Yet I’m not good enough. Even though I have no ego and willing to fix any problems before it gets printed.
@marczwaneveld26634 ай бұрын
This was such a lame Fantastic Four clone. And drawn by the very guy Rob couldn't talk enough smack about for being his clone on X-Force
@teambloodforce4 ай бұрын
I assumed Pacella was another Marat/ Dan Panosian/ Bryan Murray, where they were the guys helping Rob maintain something resembling a schedule at Marvel and then he brought them over. Weird that Rob would talk shit about him and then offer him a job- although he was like 23 in 1992, he might not really have been capable of reason at the time.
