It is compatible with such mods like Brutal Doom, Project Brutality, Guncaster and tons of other mods, probably it only depends on you. The *ATMOSPHERE* in this mappack is great - that feeling when you enter the Arena is something hard to describe. You can feel that the maps are inspired by Quake and Doom 64 - especially when you play the first episode. It's hard to find such a nicely designed map - basically, it's full of surprises and I won't spoil it to you in the description. You must fight in cramped and dark areas, where you might feel dizzy. But then, suddenly you see giants doors opened - my jaw DROPPED when I saw a huge Colosseum. The main focus of DoomSlayer Chronicles are the battles against the hordes of demons. First arenas are really small, but lucky for you, the enemies are mostly a lesser spawn like Imps or Pinkies. With each wave, there are more enemies, they are stronger, but you also receive a new weapon and some powerups. The music in this modification is also something from a different world outstanding. And remember, be QUICK in this mod, speed is your friend here. Try to be faster than your enemies and their projectiles - you have lots of space to avoid that. Also, when you get a new perk - press "I" twice on the keyboard :). I kinda feel like this should be base around the events that creates the doomslayer . Given that the Title is the doom slayer chronicles. Maybe some story should be added along with some interactions with his son? I know story isnt Doom strong suit but I feel like this could be stretch into a 3 part map back with these events in mind. 1st part being the rise in ranks and son part of the story with it ending in wtf moment of his son dying like in the story, Then the doomslayer following the trail of the ones who kill him and making a deal with the demons for the 2nd part , and the final part being the invasion and doomslayer discovering what happen to his son and then going thre hell in a murderous rampage.

you should change the dsc file from .pk3 to .wad then double click on your mod and add the last patch in the additional parameters before running doom 2

жж жж I don't know of a PB that's compatible with Brutal Doom v21. The latest version of Project Brutality was 3.0, and that relies on Brutal Doom v20B. However I can confirm it does run with both BDv21 and PB 3.0

You will have some project brutality, I have lost the thread still in development ? the last time I played it was in the doom anthology pack. I also recommend you try it with brutal doom black edition or the d4t, a few days ago they uploaded a quite respectable update.

Do not run HD textures, and turn off any settings that hardly make a difference like intensive lightning or Anisothropic filtering. I've also managed to run Project Brutality smooth with it.

Looks like this could be a fun one to play with LegenDoom. Or a complete nightmare depending on which enemy gets the boss treatment and what you have in terms of weapons but still fun.

Suicidal Forest Dev of DSC stated it's meant to be played with brutal doom. I saw someone play it w/o BD and it is much slower, harder, less fun and some things don't work right. Play it with brutal doom or don't play it; even if you don't use brutal doom for anything else.

Suicidal Forest I totally get it, truly, but I know this mod does not work well with vanilla. Monster balancing, ammo drops, demon AI/move set, sniping, and even some graphical issues are present in vanilla. I am not totally familiar with beautiful doom, but if it is similar to BD then perhaps it solves these issues similarly, as well. All I know is that this was meant to be played with BD-type adjustments to the game.

Suicidal Forest Really? I watched someone do a whole play through on a rather large doom mod channel, and most of the custom text did not show up, All of the custom sprites didn't show up (the normal sprite were the same, but the places where there are custom enemies they were replaced with normal ones, the enemies didn't charge at you like they are supposed to, it didn't tell you on screen what kind of ammo you picked up and you had to scroll through to figure it out, the enemies took more hits to kill and dealt more damage, the bodies on the floor never faded so it became impossible to see in some places, etc etc etc. I would hardly call that "no issues". And yes the dev didn't specifically say play it with brutal doom, but he did say it was made to be run with other mods LIKE brutal doom, project brutality, etc. he never ever said "this is MEANT to be played vanilla"

Edit the .bat file provided in a Doom Slayer Chronicles package and add there Brutal Doom pk3 file to run. Then simply run this .bat.

Forget the .bat. What you want to do is extract the specific .pk3 files to your Doom 2/base or Ultimate Doom folder, then drag and drop the .pk3 into GZDoom. To run alongside Brutal Doom or any other mod, simply select all the .pk3 files to load (ctrl+click) and drag the multiple files into GZDoom.

@@UnchainedEruption it does work well but if you are using multiple mods like five or more doing that could make them load out of order and cause problems or crash. I use ZDL which allows me to load different versions and different Source ports thereof (PRboom, Crispy, gzdoom, DoomsDay) , I use it for everything except things that are zandronum specific like Complex Clusterf_ck (and even then Zandro uses ZDL for load order). There's a new loader released only recently I just discovered two days ago but forget the name off hand I'm going to try.

He's obviously playing with the low settings, not the hi-res textures.

gzdoom actually utilizes both cpu and gpu especially when rendering output is set to opengl. it's just not very optimized like modern 3d video games so it demands a lot of processing power when running on high graphics settings. try inspecting the task manager and you'll see (windows 10's task manager now lets you see gpu load) as for my card, it's on full load when running DSC (it's gt 730, kind of an old card).

If your using an AMD GPU install driver 18.5.1 or 18.6.1. Anything newer can result in missing sprites when using OpenGL. It's been reported to AMD so hopefully they can fix it soon.

Someone did a review of this mod, but didn't use brutal doom, and he gave a bad score bc honestly the DSC is dependent on many things in brutal doom for it to work and feel right. If you can get both of them working this is an incredible mod.

Looked this up on moddb. This may have appealed to most but this wouldn't have been better as a map wad with some neat additions and not just fighting waves of monsters. Idea was good but I'd have to give it a pass. Not really into TCs, (which this kind falls into since it's emulating the new Doom) unless they're from a series I'm really into.
