Doomer Reviews: "Wicked" trailer - A stunning and brave witch who finally smashes the patriarchy

So, the trailer for Universal Picture’s interpretation of wicked has just dropped, and it’s not looking good. Wicked was originally a musical that was, in turn, a re-imagining of the old classic, The Wizard of Oz. The musical is apparently wildly popular, which is probably why they decided to make a live-action movie out of it. And if we learned something from the Cats play’s live-action adaptation, it’s that musicals turned into films always turn out "great". Although the like to dislike ratio on it is nowhere near as bad as that of an average Disney "masterpiece" these days, it’s should still be a cause for concern for the studio, since even if their reputation is not nearly as tarnished yet, that can change in a heartbeat.

The notion that the film is racist or is pandering to a woke agenda is also quite dumb because Eviro has a major musical theater background that fits this interpretation of the movie. You make the argument of why not case a white straight woman but also why not cast a black queer woman? And what does an actor identity have to do with their ability to play a role? You call out how its wrong to cast based on identities but suggest literally casting on identities that simply just fit your own.
