Timeless Classic. Even in cities like Dubai where you drive on the car radio you get all these old songs. Kishore Kumar was one among the legendary singers of Bharat with the likes of TMS (TM Soundararajan), Janaki Ammal, Mohd. Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar etc. However as with many legends, Shri Kishore Kumar's life was not a success... his songs were ! Even 90's born grow up listening to legend Kishore Kumar's songs. My elder cousin brother still loves these masterpieces. He has an entire "golden set" of CDs of Kishore Kumar with him. Thing is "it is said" - many or few of his timeless classical hit songs actually got lost to time due to recording loss or something like that (I do belong to the technical sector but sound is outside my area of specialization). It, I guess is such a big loss. This is one of my "most favorite" songs ever, although I stick to Carnatic or Hindustani classical music. My favorite songs are also from the movie of the "Mr X. in Bombay" (1964) by Kishore Kumar. It is regarding an "invisible" person.

Because apart from tune and singing, it's main beauty lies in its lyrics and the real charm and meaning is always lossed in translation to another language. But I am happy you liked it. And both the movies Door Gagan Ki Chhao Mein and Door Ka Rahi are on KZbin but not in great quality. And if you wish to see them, go for DOOR KA RAHI first( it also has some great songs all composed by Kishore Kumar as most of them sung by him).

Kishire kumar loaned 5000 rupees to satyajit ray to complete pather panchali and boasted in jest about it. He sang few songs in charulata for ray for free. Kishore kumar was known for his eccentric ways and never did anything for free. He buried his first car in his house after first divorce and used to talk to trees. He had a sign in front of his house Beware of kishore kumar. He bit his producer once. His stories are very famous.
