Door window/vent installation 1955-59 Chevy/GMC Truck

This is a video of how I installed the door window/vent assembly in my 1955 2nd series Chevy truck. I tried to detail the problems I encountered & the procedures I used to fix them. I also included a couple out takes @ the end!

To aid in popping in the anti-rattle felt strips, reach down inside the door and pop out the rubber lower window stop. The glass can then drop deeper into the door.

I bought two rubber squeegee pieces I thought went on in place of the felts. There is no way they go on there. They have to be the piecesyou pot on the bottom of the window glass on the frame that you showed at the very beginning of your video. I don't see that they will keep the water out but at least now I know I have to take the entire window out to install them. I never saw them before I got them.

Awesome video, helped for me to watch this before I did my 55. And yes, 2 or 3 layers of tape are needed, ask me how I know. :( Good job and thanks for taking the time to make it!

Excellent, excellent video. As already said, thanks for taking your time to explain and making it completely realistic. Getting ready to install run channel felts and window/vent window glass in my 1954. We need to invent a door that where the inner skin comes off to facilitate some of this. Hate this part of restoration...

Thanks so much been looking for a video on door glass yours is the first good one I've seen learned alot lots of good tips. When I stripped my doors didn't know the first thing. But cound'nt hurt anything.I've been avoiding reassembly with new parts. Thanks again did'nt even know that c-channel had to be glued no one tells you the little things. Loved the blopers at the end See Yea :-)

I found this to have a lot of useful information. I recently had a lower hinge bracket replaced and mentioned that I MIGHT have the door sandblasted. The welder took it upon himself to completely disassemble the window and brought it back to me in a box. My truck is a 6400 Series. I have learned a lot from this video.

This guy was very good at what he did when he installed this window kit is not as easy as it looks I’ve done one it just takes time and patience and when you watch the videos he gives you an insight and that’s what you need so you don’t mess up everything that you work so hard to put together and just got it take your time and fit it in there before you tighten it all down and now the rest is good luck

I used an acid brush. You can get those at Lowe's or Ace .

ANother question. Did you say that you forgot to install the anti-rattle strips before putting the window in? Or can you not do that first as they would get in the way of the division bar and run channel. I would think if you cut them to correct length, you can install them first.

Hey Larry, I made a mistake there. Install the window & when you get to rattle strips remove the lower window bumper. That will allow the window to be positioned lower in the door to make the rattle strip install much easier. Good luck

thanks. Yeah on the '54, there is no lower window bumper. But the window goes down just enough to install them....stick on type, no clips.
