Thanks for this. I’m about to do the same with my 55 doors. This has given me some things to look for and some solutions already. Two things I wish I could do is welding and spray painting. Look forward to future videos. Cheers from NZ👍👍👍👍👍

Glad it helped and good luck. I’m sure each truck has its unique challenges. Bought myself a US $200 flux core welder and have since replaced lower door skins. Watched many, many, KZbin videos on welding. Practiced stitching together some 22 gauge steel which made the actual 18 gauge seem easier. Btw - I’ve had the privilege of visiting Queenstown. I have been doing body work for 46 years. My brother has a 56 no rust ever Ca. truck and his doors were out of alignment too. They are quite difficult to get right and do require some compromise. To make perfect would require cutting and welding even when they were new I believe.

Add: check all body mounts before cutting and welding the body.

What's the back story on that truck? I've finally got around to getting started on mine. It's worse than that but don't have paint to bs me lol.

I bought the truck online 2500 miles away in Sacramento sight unseen. Was recently “restored”. Hired an inspector who told me the doors needed minor alignment and signs of bondo on lower panels. A little more involved than I thought! Bondo over rust. Probably was a farm truck before that. Not much original on it now. This spring i might put new heads and cam on the 350 sbc - stay tuned in. I’m not sure if you got around to fixing your issue with aligning your fenders and or doors, but I grew up around some masterful real body shop guys that could work on the older vehicles as such. I’m sure you’re aware, but a lot of these older fenders and or doors came with shims which you can place under the fender mount or the door hinge to manipulate, the angle of the doors. It really took the right type of guy that knew about them who knew how to align them, so you’re going to have to find some old-school guy if there’s even one around, that you might be able to take it to, that’s an artistic eye and as master of working on these sort of vehicles.
