These monolith were errected by the khasi of meghalaya when they parted clans and announced that one clan can marry the other clan

Its not the manipuri who erected them but the khasi tribe who resided in that place but later migrated to meghalaya... Only few stayed back in manipur and known as Maram but rest migrated to meghalaya
