If you live in the US, we live in a federal system, so governance and power not directly stated in the Constitution are devolved locally. So you are right. County supervisors (called by different names in the East) are influential individuals (in essence, they are all three branches of government; they can issue new ordinances, oversee the budget, and have direct input on how laws are interpreted and enforced- from the state and federal system).

He's right. Your local officials have more of an effect on your day to day life than the president. These people argue up and down about Biden and Trump and who is better for gig work but that's nearly an irrelevant argument. Just look at Minneapolis. They got some changes to their gig work by getting their city and state officials involved.

New York 2nd district here, Andrew Garbarino is my congressman. He keeps a low profile. He's not ultra MAGA, but he is a Republican. I'm just thankful he doesn't seem to be corrupt. Give him time.

It is a problem because it says a couple things about you. He says you’re not concerned about or care enough about your community to take the time to find out about candidates and vote on election day. That is a level of irresponsibility that Cascades into every aspect of your life. You’re probably also one of those people that constantly complain about things that you’re elected officials are doing that affect your life yet you won’t be bothered enough to find out about your candidates and vote on election day in local elections especially. Your local town council, Mayor, state legislature, school boards, etc. will affect your day-to-day life more than whose president. A lot of places you also elect, judges the district attorney and prosecutors. All people who are ruining the lives and communities around this country by deciding that they create laws and decide which laws they’re going to enforce and which ones they’re not.

When i lived in GA and FL I had the same problem one never knows who is who and what they stand for. Not just in congress but even the small votes sherif DA ect ect People need more information to make smarter votes. Maybe it's kept quiet so you vote for the one you recognize or is prettier
