No one cares about gender. It doesn't matter. It has no merit on who you or anyone is. She's still female . So she will be limited to things a false body can do and is capable of doing. If she's about music. Why the f we talking bout gender ?

@@valeforedarkbut also if gender doesnt matter at all, then why is it so important for you to call them a female? also gender is very much part of your identity, whether you are cis or trans, its just how it is. by your logic, lets say you're a man, and one day everyone started treating you like a woman, calling you one, etc. that wouldnt affect you and your mental state at all, because after all "gender doesnt matter" right? so why would it matter which gender people percieve you as? if gender doesnt matter, why would you call anyone any gender?

as a huge dorian electra fan it was super cool to hear about this! i came out as non-binary around the same time that i started listening to dorian's music and drawing a mustache on myself became a really big part of affirming my transmasculine identity! four or five years later now, i no longer feel tied at all to facial hair to be the way that i know that i am. i instantly recognized that with the promo of dorian's new album and just their gender presentation in general as of late. it's such a nice feeling to hear them articulate the gender evolution we've both been experiencing.

@@Jade-zu4ru from the perspective of gender being different than sex, which is how i see it. Gender is a spectrum of self expression. Say for example, a tomboy; girl who likes dressing masculine, from my perspective her expression of gender is different from a more feminine presenting woman. Or for example maybe a guy who likes wearing feminine clothes, or colors. He isnt a different gender persay, but he has different expression of gender than your average man you see? Thats how alot of people are starting to see gender at least. Trans people or Non binary people are just those who like to take more drastic terms for themselves. But usually the main difference is mostly how you present. I cant say i know for the other person in the video because tbh i have no idea who they are other than what i saw in this video 💀. But for Dorian im a fan of their music, and inside of their music, fashion etc. They love to express weirdness. I mean who puts a mustache on like an extremely feminine character thats strange, and fun to them. Gender is just a term and set of terms they use to identify and refer to choices they make as far as, fashion, lyrical content, etc.
@Eggbone
@Eggbone Жыл бұрын
@@Jade-zu4ru ahh i see where youre coming from. I know about Gender dysphoria aswell and thats a good point most trans people do experience gender dysphoria aswell. On the other hand one could defend genderfluid people with the concept of gender euphoria. While some people only have dysphoria, some get both euphoria and dysphoria and some only have euphoria with one gender. Essentially gender euphoria is the idea that identifying a certain way gives a person a content feeling. And maybe some fluid people get that from expressing both ways. But this doesnt mean fluid or nonbinary people dont experience dysphoria. I do agree that to some extent these things can enforce gender stereotypes even more, but i dont think gender neutrality contributes to that. I would argue for alot of people it can be a nice ground to be on as youre able to experiment with what society expects of you at your birth as well as what you want to do, i.e. a AFAM individual wearing a mustache in their outfits and making a music video with themselves simultaneously playing a msc and fem character. I think another side is tho, some people seem to feel dysphoria with characteristics of both femininity and masculinity, and some of those people choose to identify as nonbinary and using they/them pronouns or maybe just dressing very androgynous. I found your opinion really interesting tho and im glad youre taking the time to respond to me and have this conversation as it is a really important one. What legitimizes someones gender identity? Dysphoria, Euphoria or just generally how they feel. And how would we figure out that this factor makes it more legitimate
@Jade-zu4ru
@Jade-zu4ru Жыл бұрын
@@Eggbone That's very interesting, I haven't heard about gender euphoria before, I had to google it. I read that "gender euphoria is when someone’s perceived gender aligns with their sense of self and causes them to be happy and feel at ease" and that you don't have to be transgender to experience gender euphoria, but the reason it's a more popular term amongst trans people is because it's being compared to the initial gender dysphoria they experienced. Most of the time, after they transition and start to pass, they experience being treated as the gender they want, which gives the opposite of gender dysphoria - gender euphoria. If anyone can experience gender euphoria, regardless of what they identify as, then why would someone be a different gender based solely on the fact that they experience gender euphoria when wearing more masculine/feminine clothing? Cross-dressing has been around for a long time, and I think it's safe to say that cross-dressers feel happy, confident and comfortable when cross-dressing and that the feelings one may feel when cross-dressing might be considered gender euphoria. I believe it should be perfectly acceptable to explore/wear whatever you want and to be perceived however you want, as whatever gender you are, without it affecting your gender/gender identity. In regards to nonbinary people experiencing gender dysphoria towards both genders, that seems awful and I really hope not a lot of people are feeling that way, because people usually instinctively see gender and I can imagine that would be really difficult for them, as it would be hard for people to see someone as neither of the genders. I think that at the end of the day, gender dysphoria would be what legitimizes someone's gender identity if they are trans, hence the need for transition. But if all it takes is wearing a nice outfit/makeup to feel yourself, then I think there's no need to be any other gender, since you're already happy and able to experience gender euphoria without undergoing transition, you feel me? I leant something new today thanks to you, I appreciate this conversation :)

@@Crkkyyt Exactly, clothing has nothing to do with gender. However, the term genderfluid- or any other terms describing gender or sexuality- are just used for self expression and to describe how they feel about their gender identity and how they wish for others to refer to them.

@@Crkkyyt I think youre confused. Dorian uses clothes to express their gender, its called gender expression. But that doesnt mean that like say if they wear feminine clothes, they're expression their gender as a girl. Its just how they feel and what they wanna wear, what affirms their gender on that day

What a weird take. Idk there that take came from because it doesn't seem to correlate with this clip. Just wanted to say that 'Just ignore them' is a bit like saying 'stop being sad' to someone with depression. Or saying 'They should've just ignored it' to someone who ended their life because of bullying. Extreme cases but still

@@SanicBoi Verbal bullying and spreading propaganda about trans people is transphobia. Anyone that uses harmful jokes about trans people is transphobia, and it is also bullying. All of this has lead to the deaths of hundreds to thousands of trans people, (m*rder, s*icide). Asking genuine questions isn't transphobia, learning isn't transphobia, as long as your transparent about your confusion and try to learn that is ok, but if you're refusing to learn and remain ignorant and continue to use the same old misguided beliefs about us, you are transphobic.

holy fuck! you completely (and more than likely purposefully) misunderstood what they were saying! they didn't mean that the moustache was the base of their identity, dude. as a musician who deals with gender a lot in their music and aesthetics it's a given that how they present themselves is something prone to self analysis. it's just about what the moustache meant to them and the fanbase and how changing it up might be interpreted

What are you on about? 😂 I seriously don't get why you are so mad about someone having an opinion in an interview about them. They are just talking. If an artist that always wears a mask suddenly stops doing that they get asked about that as well. They aren't 'clowns' because they answer it. It's their 'trademark' / their thing they always had. And they stopped doing that. Simple as that. No need to get mad because they explained why 😅 And you are right it doesn't matter. That was the whole point of the clip!
