There was a truck that drove through my neighbor hood, we called it the "La Cucaracha man" because of the song he played. He made these chips along with many mexican foods, he was like a mobile market. Mexican Ice Cream man pretty much. Fresh fruits, Chips, Candy, Veggies, Bread, etc. It's sad he no longer comes through.

My mom makes frito pie several times a year with homemade chili, cheddar cheese, green or white onions, pickled jalapeño slices, tomatoes, and sour cream on top. Only here in Tennessee we call them Petros because there is a fast food place called Petros that makes them. I first had them at the 1982 worlds fair when I as 7, so they are definitely comfort food for me.

You miss, deserve a trophy! ❤️ when I make then at home I also add cucumbers, sausage (depending if you want it sweet or sour), gomitas (gummy bears work too), salsa maggi (looks like soy sauce) ans English sauce. I used to work at a place that sells Mexican street food and ice cream here in the US. The traditional way of making these, both with doritos and tostitos is cabbage, cucumber, some jicama, those pork skins, and some valentina so you missed the cabbage. But in Northern Mexico they often feel more like nachos, with nacho cheese, jalapenos, chamoy, valentina, ground cheese, and sometimes some marinated pork

i live in the border of U.S. with mexico, and I can tell that dorilocos have much more than just japanese peanuts and salsa, mexicans also put shopped cucumber, pork skin (cueritos), tomato juice, lime juice, tajin, salsa, peanuts, chaca-chaca(mexican tamarindo candy). and all of that taste waaaaaay beter on Tostitos than Doritos, you may try it! it is a master piece

This also reminds me of a BBQ Sundae, another popular festival food in the Midwest and probably other places. Layers of mashed potatoes, BBQ pork, baked beans, cole slaw, and BBQ sauce in a sundae cup to look like ice cream.

As a kid we used to used to use the little Doritos bags for tacos. We would do taco meat, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. There were 6 of us kids eating them, this was long before they made the taco shells out of Doritos. makes me want to make them for my daughter. :)

My high school sold frito bags once a week, basically they took those small bags of fritos, plopped some hot chili on top, added cheese and had Valentina available if you wanted it. Super yummy, filling, and cheap. :)

In my city dorilocos are prepared with cueritos, cubes of cucumber, tomatoes in little cubes, thin slices of cabbage, sour cream, slices of avocado and lemon juice. Sometimes with carrot and jicama. The use of chili powder is optional as the sauces because of the variety, we never use tajín for anything because is not spicy is more like sour, the Valentina sauce is very typical and the chamoy is optional as well, in fact, I don't like it at all. Reminds me of Yee Sang (commonly eaten by Malaysian Chinese during Chinese New Year season) or a type of fun salad like a Rojak (Malaysian Indian Muslim dish that consists of fried and fresh flavours tossed in spicy sweet peanut sauce). Scrumptious!
