It’s 2024 and I’m just starting , absolutely love how you’re teaching this. Do you use little paint pots with lids to keep your paint fresh?

Kelly yours is the only video that gave me such understanding and detail. Have been trying to figure out why a mess gets created in the centre of the Dot when I lift the stylus. You have helped me get over with my problem. Thanks so much. Have subscribed to your channel. Will follow.

When u ae painting a rock or plaster rock, do u coat them with a sealer first? And if i were to mess up a dot could i scrap or wipe it off?
@KellyTheresa Жыл бұрын
Hi Jennifer, I don't usually use a sealer first unless it's a really gritty rock and I was a smoother surface then I will resin and sand it. As for wiping off dots you absolutely can while it's still wet 😁

What to do if you do a mistake in your mandala art work how do you rectify that. Eg.if a paint spill how to remove that without damaging the good work
@KellyTheresa7 ай бұрын
Hi Elizabeth! This is dependant on the size of the spill, if it's little and away from other dots and still wet I will use a damp q-tip to remove it. If I can't remove it without damaging other dots around it then I wait for it to dry and then paint it the base color again, the great thing with acrylic is you can easily paint over colors again once they are dry! 😁 Hope this helps! 💕

Awesome video thank you. I am going to try this on a small canvas but I notice that when you place the latter dots it doesn’t level and leaves a small pool of paint if that makes sense is that a normal thing with dot painting?
@KellyTheresa4 жыл бұрын
Hi Norine thank you! 😊 Yes this is very normal in dot painting depending on the consistency of your paint and how much paint is on your tool, often in some designs having a pool of paint that leaves a raised texture is what you want and other times having a flat dot works better, it just depends on your preferences and design 😁

What type of sketch book do you use to practice on? I'm pretty new to all of this art! lol Thank you for these tutorials!
@KellyTheresa4 жыл бұрын
Hi! When I'm doing the tutorials I just use any kind of cheap regular sketchbook because I'm just giving examples of dots that I will toss away so I don't want to spend a lot of money on a sketchbook but if I'm actually creating a painting to keep on paper then I use a book that has canvas paper in it or something made specifically for paints, typically the paper is much thicker with a texture to it as opposed to thinner sketch paper, the brand I use for the acrylic/canvas paper is Color Factory

Thanks for the great video. How do you clean your dotting tools?
@KellyTheresa2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching my tutorials 🤗 typically I just have a damp paper towel beside me when I'm painting and wipe it off on the paper towel 😊

What kind of paint do you use? No matter how lightly I push down when making the dots I still get spray out and rough peaks on the dots.
@KellyTheresa2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I use DecoArt and FolkArt brand paint and most often it's a great consistency, sometimes I need to add a few drops of pouring medium if it's too thick. Spray out means your paint is too thin and rough peaks means your paint is too thick, finding a balance between is ideal

Sorry I did not get it... what do you put on the pencil?
@KellyTheresa3 жыл бұрын
Hi Elena! I put flat round thumbtacks or flat head nails in the eraser end of the pencil 😊
Very nice. I noticed that your first large blue dot using tac was done over and over again until it did the effect you wanted. My question is - what was the effect you were after? The raised bubble perfectly centered? Thx,

Paint, you replied what to use if the paint is too thick. What do you use to get a thicker consistency to make the peaks/tips?
@KellyTheresa4 жыл бұрын
That's a great question Terri! The honest answer is I don't know, typically if a paint is too thin I don't use it. What I have found (completely accidental in experience) is that some paints if left out for a bit (an hour or so) with a bit of stirring here and there, will thicken up on its own. I don't have a product that I use to thicken paint although I'm certain there are thicken agents out there for acrylic, I just don't have the experience with them because I rarely need it. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
@terrirobison5604 жыл бұрын
Kelly Theresa It's called flow or fluid medium, it also comes in a gel form. I'm using the cheaper Apple Barrel paints and some are way too runny. This should stiffen it up a bit, hopefully. Btw, you do beautiful work❤️
@reddallison24484 жыл бұрын
Do you add anything to your paint for better flow properties?
@KellyTheresa4 жыл бұрын
Hi Redd! Yes if I find the paint is a bit too thick for my liking (which can be either from the brand that has a thicker consistency of paint, or paint that has been sitting too long and starts to thicken) I use a liquid pouring medium, you only need a few drops and stir it in and then add one drop at a time until you get the desired result. If I get desperate and don't have any pouring medium left I have used a few drops of water and it works too 😊
