This video is about a full day bamboo rafting and deep forest trekking in Periyar tiger reserve Thekkady. Periyar Tiger Reserve offers multiple wildlife trekking and deep forest stay packages, Bamboo rafting is one of the trekking program. There are two options, half day bamboo rafting and full day bamboo rafting. Both of them includes some rafting in Thekkady lake and deep forest wildlife trekking where you will be able to see plenty of wildlife based on your luck.

Bamboo rafting starts at 8:00 AM from the reporting point near Boating landing point. You have to park your vehicles in the parking space Kumily (same as Thekkady boating parking), then get on to the shuttle bus from the parking to boating landing point. You have to fill a form in the starting point before you start trekking. You will be provided a kit with breakfast, lunch, water and some fruits which you have to carry through out the trekking. During monsoon season there will be lot of leaches so you have to bring sanitisers or salts (even though leech socks are provided). Bamboo rafting includes around 6-7km of one side trekking and 1+ hours of rafting.
Notes : Wear proper shoes, Wear nature friendly dresses(avoid bright colours), don't make noise, don't litter. Follow the instructions without fail. As I mentioned 10+ kms of up and down walking there so you should be fit enough to walk the whole day.
