The one and only wonderful Dottie. What a lovely and talented lady. She puts so much warmth into this song and to think of her no longer being with us in person is too sad . I am so thankful that KZbin has the great traditional country music for us to enjoy. Thank you for posting this treasure. - Paula

Awesome. I just love her."Dottie" was the first album I heard and was blown away. I saw her several times and she and her voice were flawless. One was a small setting and I was in the level above the floor (only two levels) and I guess maybe she felt a connection because she walked through the lower level tables to shake my hand. No one else. A moment never forgotten. I've only recently been able to listen to her music, it made me to sad, I miss her. I didn't "know" her but it's how I feel.

Not a lot of people know that Dottie was the first person on the scene back when Patsy Cline (her best friend) was in that near-fatal car crash. Patsy's brother was driving and they hit a woman driving toward them in the opposite direction (That lady and one of her passengers was killed.) Patsy was thrown through the windshield and cut up pretty badly. Dottie lived within walking distance of where the wreck took place and rushed over. She cradled Patsy's head in her lap while picking the shards of glass out of her scalp until the ambulance came. Patsy's face was cut so severely that she required plastic surgery and would still maintain a permanent scar afterwards. (And just to speak of Patsy's character) when the ambulance did arrive she insisted the other people be taken to the hospital first. Two sensational ladies that we lost far too soon.

This is one of the best singers to walk on stage at the Opry But the Opry should be ashamed For not geting this ladie a ride to the Opry house When they knew she was down on her luck And had to depend on a eighty year old man to drive her to the Opry house..Now she is gone but not forgoten by the fans Now all you hear is how much the Opry people love each other..

Fabulous singer. How can anyone in their right mind compare Dolly Parton to Dottie West - come on guys, Dottie, Tammy and Patsy are REAL country singers. The rest are just pop singers!!
@Alvin4NY10 жыл бұрын
I'd say you need to listen to Dolly's entire catalog....when you've got about a year. From the first one to the last one, no matter the pop influence or Producer on board, you don't get Dolly and not get 'Country'. They go together like Salt and Pepper.
@MrTheelvisfan9 жыл бұрын
Peter Watkins I'm sorry but I think Dolly Parton also has good songs and a lot of them Dolly also wrote. The others are pop singers say you,but then you have never heard of Kitty Wells,Loretha Lynn,Wanda Jackson,Norma Jean,Patsy Montana etc. etc.

I have always thought Kenny Rodgers got off unscathed in Dottie West's car accident so here goes the story as I understand it. Dottie had been crushed by the IRS through no fault of her own everybody knows this part. Kenny Rodgers her superstar singing partner with all the money in the world gives her a USED car. A Chrysler Le Baron at that I believe it was. The USED car breaks down. Miss West sees her elderly neighbor and asks him for a ride to the Opry as she's scheduled to perform soon. For whatever reason the elderly neighbor takes the exit going too fast. If memory serves Dottie West lived for five days after the accident. Kenny Rodgers ego probably has him walking around saying what I did my part. You sure did Kenny Rodgers. The Man is a classless as the time he called Dottie "Dolly" in concert on national TV. As Paul Harvey used to say," now you know..... the rest of the story!...... Good day!"
