Set The World On Fire is on their most recent album called Electric Pentagram, released in January 2020. The song was written and arranged by Miyako, the guitarist on stage left. Lovebites has a catalog of almost 50 songs and all but 6 were written by a band member. Miyako has written the most of the group (my count is 21) and is the only band member not to work with an outside collaborator named Mao. Miyako's only collaboration was with Miho, the bassist, for the song Break the Wall. That song combines the best of both Miyako and Miho (who wrote 11 songs in her time with the band) and I recommend it as the next song from Lovebites.

Now you see why this band won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. Midori and Miyako are phenomenal guitarists and they draw their influences from a lot of the metal pioneers in the 80s and 90s as well as DragonForce who they toured with in 2019.

Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. This was an aggressive start for your first look at Lovebites! They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out: Their most recently posted live clips, “Set the World on Fire” (you just watched this) and “Don’t Bite the Dust” kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXnRfHp7n5Z2g8U, which are both from their recently released concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”. "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZ2TXohjrtB9ebc They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oonLkKiDgp5noLc; “Holy War”: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJikqaN7paqWpNE Miyako is also a professional-level classical concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude”. Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXPLpaSdnr14d5Y. For a thrasher with heavy Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWGVYpSGZ8aibLs includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6rRn4t6m6qhpLs (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) Finally, while you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular: "Shadowmaker" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKPQoJ-kaqyrq9U This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world "When Destinies Align" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn2plp9_bpiJoa8 "Glory to the World" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6itpXdojaqLfpY "Winds of Transylvania" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqSoZYiYlLWdnpo. You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

@@RyanSquared Ok, you asked for it!!!! Japan has had an active all-girl metal scene since at least 1981. This is a starter list of all-female (or in eight cases, mixed gender) metal, punk, hard-rock and post-rock bands, with founding dates where I know them. It's alphabetical, except for the first three, which are at the top of the list for historical reasons. They set the table for the explosion of Japanese female hard-rock, punk and metal bands. IMO Lovebites is the best of the Japanese metal bands, and for me personally it really isn't that close. You want shredding? If so, listen to Break the Wall. And if you want something a tad different closer to DragonForce, listen to the music video Winds of Transylvania. Miyako, my personal favorite with the black hair and the Dean, she is the calmest shredder I've ever seen. And the power stance of the other guitarist Midori - damn. Haruna the drummer pounds it out with ease, and Asami the vocalists voice is the perfect metal contrast to the music. Sadly the bassist here, Miho, one of the original founders, has left the band and they are currently in the audition stage for a new bassist.

Well, it seems you’ve just been lovebitten, too. Yes, welcome to the mind-blowing world of Lovebites. These women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile exceptional musicians. Their main influences are Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Helloween, Angra, Judas Priest, Dragonforce, and even Gary Moore, but they have been developing their unique style. They really shine in their live performances. I recommend songs from the concerts “Wacken Open Air” (Germany, 2018), “Daughters of the dawn” (2019), “Five of a kind” (2020), “Awakening From The abyss” (studio live, 2020) and “Heavy metal never dies” (2021); avoid “Bloodstock” because audio is not good (not their fault). Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in just a little more than five years. Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined Lovebites. In an interview, Miho (ex bassist) said that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. My next suggestions are “Thunder vengeance”, “Break the wall”, “The Awakening/Hammer of wrath”, “Shadowmaker”, “Holy war”, “Raise some hell”, “Scream for me”, “When destinies align”, “Dancing with the devil”, “The crusade”, “Frozen serenade”, “Spellbound”, “Don’t bite the dust”, “Winds of Transylvania”, “Swan song”, “Empty daydream”, “Edge of the world”, “Epilogue”, “Glory to the world”, “Today is the day”, “Golden destination” (all live). Lineup: Haruna - Drums Miho - Bass, backing vocals Midori - Lead & rhythm guitar, backing vocals Miyako - Lead & rhythm guitar, keyboards, classical piano, backing vocals Asami - Lead vocals, some piano Currently the band is on hiatus because Miho left the band last year and the process to find her replacement has already started.

Dragonforce wishes they were this good on the live stage. Confidence, is correct. These women will not jump around making a show of "working hard" to get a reaction. They look casual because they aren't tensing up to do what they do, it isn't like they aren't working hard, they just make it look easy.
@georges93262 жыл бұрын

Lovebites' main influences are Helloween and Iron Maiden, but they also are influenced by several other bands, especially Judas Priest, Metallica, Slayer and Angra; and guitarist Miyako is personally heavily influenced by Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow) and Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy), while Midori is influenced more by Kiko Loureiro (Angra, Megadeth) and Yngwie Malmsteen. They actually have epic covers of both Helloween's "Eagle Fly Free" and Judas Priest's "Painkiller." They also have an original song called "The Crusade," which isn't a cover, but it was written as a tribute to Iron Maiden, with some of the melodies and vocal patterns based on "Aces High." Although they haven't mentioned Dragonforce as an influence, they have toured with them, and guitarists Midori (blonde) and Miyako (dark hair) have jammed onstate with Dragonforce - interestingly, metal bluegrass (from the video game Farming Simulator), with Herman and the ladies trading off triple leads, while Sam has a hoedown on the banjo! One of the unique elements to Lovebites is vocalist Asami, who comes from a background in R&B, soul, and gospel, and names Alicia Keys as one of her main influences. Bassist Miho (who also cofounded the band with drummer Haruna) sadly left the band in August of last year to pursue other things. The band is currently auditioning new bassists, with plans to announce the new member in August of this year.

they know how to write a good metal song. Even their first debut received positive reviews from Helloween, Angra, Stratovarius and Blind Guardian. @@RyanSquared Their 2019 concert blu-ray Daughters of the Dawn is excellent, as well as Wacken 2018. The channel "Okku" has most of the 2019 show up for viewing, most with [cc] lyrics too. kzbin.info/door/SLX6nA3LRuguwhHZOQO1ZQvideos The Bloodstock show audio is 'off' due to last minute move to Main Stage to fill the spot vacated by Suicidal Tendencies delayed flight. Out of all the bands there it was LOVEBITES performance a week earlier at Wacken and their Golden Gods award "Best New Metal Band" from Metal Hammer that impressed so much that they were the ones chosen to fill that spot when it came open! Asami is also a rhytm and blues singer and classical dancer, but she dedicates her body and soul to heavy metal. Midori and Miyako are excellent guitarists. Equivalent to KK Downing-Glenn Tipton and Dave Murray-Adrian Smith. Miyako is also a classical pianist. Miho is the bassist and commander of the band. Unfortunately, she left the band to rethink her life as a musician. All songs are masterpieces. My two cents on Lovebites: I could tell by Ryan's face that he REALLY liked that. Ryan, wait 'til you hear the guitar solos on "Holy War." That song I always describe as relentless. That's the song most reactors start with. However, my favorite is "Thunder Vengeance." Also, the bassist, Miho, recently left the band. They put out open auditions, any nationality or gender. Which always make me think that if they get a male bassist, is he going to have to wear a pretty dress.

f you really love lovebites you should react to Holy War, Thunder Vengeance, Rising, Raise Some Hell, Edge of the World, Glory to the World, Swan Song with chopin intro, Epilogue, Empty Daydream, Break The Wall, When Destines Align, Shadowmaker, and Eagles Fly Free if you react to all of these you will find out how amazing Asami, Miyako, Midori, Miho and Haruna really is please let me know what you think

And there is little Haruna, dwarfed by her drum kit: surely she's outmatched. Oh pardon me, I see that she's throttling the kit. You see this with all of the major Japanese female drummers (e.g. Akane in Band Maid, Tamu in Nemophila). This is true across all of the players in all of the bands (e.g. Band Maid's Misa holding her seemingly huge bass -- it takes very little time to see who is dominating what...size is no match for justified confidence and ferocity)!
