Double Brooding Nucs. How To Produce Unlimited Bees

In this video were double brooding nucs. Its a very similar process if you were going to double brood a full colony of bees or brood and a half it. (Brood box and Super)
You basically get a second brood box and place this above the growing colony of bees. This gives the bees and the queen more room to produce bees. You can use theses extra frames and bees to create more nucs......then you repeat the process time after time.
Instead of producing honey these bees produce eggs, brood and bees!
Its almost identical to Michael Palmer Brood Factory method.

This year I am using a Paynes nuc and two extension brood boxes all converted to take 8 frames as a resource source for brood, drawn comb, stores etc with a top feeder.

Paynes feeders are terrible - but an 8 frame paynes is excellent.

The syrup you are using looks a lot thinner than normal, have you added some water to standard syrup?? When are we going to find out the masking tape trick?

Yes I watered down syrup. But finding it doesn’t mix very well and the water separates. Not recommended as it not sure what the watering down ratio should be. Next week! 😅

We don’t do any queen rearing. We buy all our queens in.

Do you ever feel like you’re breeding competition for yourself by selling nucs and getting more people into beekeeping?

Given the amount of nucs and queens sold in the UK I think they are safe as folk make mistakes and look to recover quickly by buying nucs and buy queens as they don't want to trying queen rearing or wait for splits to rear their own queens.

Cant remember the stats on first-third year giving up but they're pretty high. It looks like fun, then people figure out its hard work and involves them being in bee suits when they want to be in beer gardens or at the beach.
