Indian Railways Double Decker trains are two-floor express trains with a bi-passenger seating arrangement. These twin deck trains are spacious than conventional coaches; therefore they can carry more passengers and goods on board. The new Double Decker LHB coaches are manufactured with stainless steel in Kapurthala Coach Factory.

It was designed for day journies but SCR introduced in TPTY Vskp as it could find any other suitable route tgwt attract AC passengers for full AC train and already failed to attract travellers in KCG TPTY Biweekly and KCG GNT Biweekly from May 2014 to 2016. The coach is designed to carry more passengers per coach 120 seats against the normal 78 seats per coach in AC chair car.
