Great selection of images, but double denim is difficult to do without looking contrived. So common, obviously, is for people to wear jeans with some non-denim top... I find the reverse looks stylish, meaning a denim jacket (like a Lee Storm Rider) paired with non-denim pants, maybe some charcoal wool pants with some drape to them. You see women often doing this: denim jacket with pants in a non-denim. Men would be wise to mimic this in my view.

Now this is a VERY good look you're describing here! No doubt, a denim jacket like that is a timeless wardrobe staple - and contrasting with the dressy/drapey trousers is such a top style move for sure! And I also agree, the best examples of denim mix have to look natural and unfussy. Sometimes I'll see older guys here where I live in Texas wearing a denim shirt with jeans, and somehow they just treat it like they didn't even think about it, and it looks great. But if some dude is trying too hard, it can easily look forced if you're not careful.
