You skipped very fast about illumination wires. My case is : on the car side ill+ and ill- and aftermarket harness ill.backlight (orange) and ill.backlight(green) so what should I do? What does the manual say? Sounds like it could be positive or negative activation but you need to verify in the manual.

@@AnthonyJ350 No manual,just wiring diagram as explained. Anyhow, I connected ill+ with green illumination backlight wire and left open (insulated) ill- and orange ill. Backlight, and it works with dimming the backlight when the lights are on. Thank you for respond, subscribed.

Glad to see another BC'er helping the community out. Very informative video and thank you for taking time to make this video. May I ask you, I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey and am installing a Nakamichi Android Audio Unit. I've worked 90% of the wires together mostly matching colours except for the last 4 wires. This Head unit does offer steering wheel controls options. Now the Car Harness side has a solid Orange illumination wire but the only orange-like wire remaining on the Nakamichi Harness is Orange w/black stripe (Nakamichi is horrible at labelling their wires rather they indicate position on the harness connector). I believe the Headunit reads this as the Car Light Control. Then there are 3 additional wires with sticker tags on the Nakamichi Harness side. 1 = solid Brown (labelled "Back CTL"), 2= solid Blue (labelled "SWC 2"), & 3 = Solid Orange Wire ( labelled " Key"). Should I connect the Car Harness Solid Orange (Illum.) Wire to the Nakamichi Orange /Black Stripe? What do I do with the remaining 3 labelled wires? Thank you

I would confirm the orange/ black wire is actual illumination. As for the steering wheel controls you'll have to go on the Nakamichi online manual to look up what wires are the controls for your car. I prefer to use universal steering wheel control interfaces to achieve control.

Hey, im still a bit lost on the blue wires. I get what each does, but my car harness has 2 blue wires, 1 solid and 1 blue/white and my new head unit only has solid blue. Do i put the 3 together? When i took out the other after Market deck i didn't see how they did it, im guessing they spliced the 3 together bc all wires were used etc

Yes if it's from the "car side" you can combine the blue and blue/white as they're receiving a 12 volt signal.

Don't work about the pink wire, that's typically for vehicle speed sense. You can hook up the dimmer wire to illumination, as long as it's just one wire. Do no twist orange and orange/ white together on the "car side" of the harness.

Got on a SCOSCHE FD23B one is orange/black and orange/white. Not sure what they do, but my illumination on the car stereo is just orange.

You have to test the wires then. Illumination from the vehicle should go 12+ when the lights are turned on.

I really hope you see this, I have an apple carplay screen radio and only 4 of my 6 speakers work and also can’t figure out what to connect my steering wheel controls to (the colors they have listed for those are pink and brown). Hello, I'm stalling a Dual (it's the brand) double din for my 07 Mitsubishi eclipse spyder gs. The kit that I bought came only with the adapter for the speaker. So I either need to figure out where to buy the other adapter, or figure out the wiring? Can you help me with either? The wires not plugged into anything are the 1:Battery +(yellow wire), 2: Brake ( pink wire), 3: Ground (black wire), Reverse + (orange, or deep yellow?), Remote Turn on + (blue wire), Swc Inpute (some kinda aux plug). I don't see anything for my subwoofer. Will I have to get a new one and rewire? And I'm going to be attempting a license plate back up camera. Where would i plug in the wires for that?

Illumination dims the head unit display. It doesn't provide power for the display.

Hello, I have a 2005 SAAB and although my screen works perfectly well there is an odd interference noise, its a high pitched whine that raises and lowers with the engine revs.....I'm hearing this could either be a poor ground or something to do with the factory amplifier fitted to my car. You can hook up those orange and white wires together. You don't have to wire the green wire, but some features will remained "locked".

It's working correctly, it's looking for a camera signal. You can either install a backup camera or turn off that feature in the menu.

Advice... When making a video explaining wiring, have the camera in front of the wires instead of focusing on the back of your left thumb. Also holding the wires inside your hands but the camera place above from behind where you can't see what you holding... then the shot way down showing mostly your wrist... Didn't plan this very well 😂😅

When you mentioned about the foot brake wire and the hand brake wire where would the foot brake wire be hooked up to because what I have is a alpine double din touchscreen model INA-W910 in-dash GPS Navigation receiver 7.0 inch wide in dash color display and that wire got me confused on where that wire should be hooked up to I know the hand brake wire goes on the E-brake wire under the center console area

Foot brake would be the actual main brake pedal. It will be a positive trigger wire when you press on the brake pedal.

I have a question,, I'm trying to install a touch screen radio on my wife 2007 chrysler aspen.. ok, I have a dodge ram 2002, and I notice that the harness fit on both vehicles, but that harness I got it for the dodge ram long time ago, but I'm using it to install the radio on the chrysler.. I have all wires of the new radio connected to the harness.. .. ok.. so I have the radio connect it to the harness it's all one piece now.. so I connected to the chrysler to test the radio before I put everything together.. but.. I didn't work... so I disconnected and I connected the old radio and it does work...well I connected the new radio on the ram and does work.. so I connected back to the chrysler and it doesn't work... I don't understand

The Aspen needs a harness with a module. The accessory turn on (red wire) is data controlled. So the plug is the same but needs that module. You can get it at your local install shop.

No do not hook up orange to red. That will make the head unit always on dim or night mode. If the harness does not have the wire, just terminate the end and do not hook it up.

Hey I got a question. I have a jvc touchscreen double din. It's touch screen has been glitchy when I use the touchscreen menus. So updated it. Didn't help. I'd click spotify and then another menu like the phone would be selected. Or BT audio, and the tuner would be selected. So I managed to get thru the glitches and do the touch calibration. And it did not help either now all touch function has stopped working. Buttons work and phone still connect, and I can still see what's on the screen. I'm thinking maybe a touch screen/ ribbon cable replacement. Just want another opinion before I order the screen from the states. I'm in British columbia so shipping is a hassle. Hello I have installed an android head unit on my 2012 Ford Fiesta but the lights on the central panel do not work. The seller told me after the purchase that those types of units are not fully compatible with models of 2012 and earlier (red panel lighting) but they work perfect on models of 2013 and after (blue panel lighting). In my car this is the only problem that I can't solve and it's very annoying. The steering wheel and panel controls work perfect with the new head unit the only problem is the lighting. So do I have to connect the ACC (red wire) to the orange (Illumination wire) and panel lights should stay always on or I missed something? Your help would be very useful Thanks in advance

Red should only be hooked up to ACC and orange needs an illumination source. I use major brands with modules like Idatalink Maestro to make everything work properly. Cost a little more, but for good reason.

I have a 2005 ford ranger and I’m trying to install a pioneer avh 215bt and the only wires I haven’t connected would be the purple and white, single green wire and the blue and white wire. When it came to turning on my screen would be white then change to blue and stay like that till I turn the vehicle off. Any tips?

Power antenna setup on my 85 Toyota is driving me crazy. Have solid blue from my head unit (Dual DMCPA70BT) and harness on car side has solid blue with loop. If I connect blue to blue the antenna extends as soon as the ignition is set to acc or on, then retracts when key is removed. I want the antenna to only be up when the head unit is on and set to radio - as you mention in the excellent video. Tried snipping the loop thinking that would do the trick but it did not. Can’t find a combo that works. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

You need a head unit that has blue for antenna and blue/ white for amp turn on. Otherwise head units like yours turn on when the head unit is on.

I was asking does a legend ( well learned that term at the very least .. ) on a 20 pin. ..... □ ..... ..... ..... list them with clip on top with 10 and then drops to bottom for the other 10 or COUNTS 5 and drops DOWN ..
