In this video I build the front wall with double door. Because the wall is 14 feet long I build this part in two sections. I am going to make my own custom door so the opening is not a standard size.

It's all looking good, a little tip, when I make up a wall with a doorway in it like yours I let the bottom plate run all the way through which makes it a lot more stable when erecting it and then cut it out afterwards.

+Michael Collinson that makes a lot of sense. And it would certainly keep the measurements correct.

I realize this video is over a year old but I feel the need to explain why you use 16 inch on center, or 24 inch on center for stud spacing. When you are sheathing your wall with OSB or some other plywood material you want the 8 foot sheet to start at the outside corner and end on the center of a stud. Subsequent sheets on the same wall should also end on the center of a stud. Hook your tape measure on the outside corner of the building for all studs in the wall and mark your 16's or 24's. Cut your top and bottom plates so they end on a 16 inch center. (the center of a stud).

Good point. All the building material you buy is designed to work with those dimensions and it makes building a lot easier when the walls are framed correctly.

Love the videos, and glad to see your layout and assembly for the jack studs, king studs, and header went better this time. A tip for rough openings for doors: leave the bottom plate one solid piece. Once the wall is stood up and attached, you can saw out the threshold and you'll have a perfect door opening. When you did the second half of the wall, did you account for the top plate needing to be 1/4in shorter than the bottom plate due to the bottom of the first half being a tad out of position?

Way to go Shims haha. I am not going to use a manufactured door so I should be able to build around the small error.

That wall can't possibly be the same length at the top as it is at the bottom. Your bottom plate is one-half inch out of position which means when you plumb one end of the wall, the other end will be one-half inch out of plumb.

This is the main wall that I had issues with being out of square. This is the first real building that I have made. I am very pleased with the results so far. Are there many many things that I should have done differently? you bet.

Hi, Have trouble with you not wearing better footwear if not safety shoes, you wear safety glasses and hearing protection. If you ever drop something on your foot or toes, you will learn the hard way. All the Best
