Türkler de ikilemeyi çok kullanır. Bazen aynı iki kelimeyi yan yana, bazen de sesleri benzeyen iki kelimeyi yan yana kullanır. Örneğin "çoluk çocuk", "eğri büğrü", "fısır fısır", "haşır huşur", "çabuk çabuk", "sabah sabah", "taze taze",... O kadar çok ki...

Am french & greek (yay!) and in french, we double the first syllable when we emphasise how cute something is, eg, bébête (an animal), toutou (dog), fifille (a girl). Great things come in 2 (not 3! 😊). In Bahasa Indonesia, the plural is created by doubling nouns. Learning languages is fun ! Love the examples as you explain the words. Μπράβο παιδιά.

"Πλάκα πλάκα" is actually very similar to the English phrase "Funny you mention it..." or "Funny that you say that..." which use this idea of 'funny' to the same effect.
@EasyGreekVideos
@EasyGreekVideos Ай бұрын
Yes, hadn't thought of that! Πλάκα πλάκα is used slightly differently, for example, one can use πλάκα πλάκα at oneself, but yeah they're similar.

@@EasyGreekVideos Sounds like the correct equivalent is "funnily enough, ....." --- you use funnily enough to indicate that, although something is surprising, it is true or really happened. You also wouldn't use it after a friend tells you "oh my cat just died" ^.^

Growing up, we kids thought it was hilarious when my Greek-American mom would say things like "we have to get up early-early," or that the sky was "blue-blue." She wasn't even that fluent in Greek. But I guess some of the Greek syntax transferred straight into her English. We didn't tease her too much, though, because she did make a delicious tourlou-tourlou. :)
