When I was a kid of 10 years old in the 80s , My parents sent to my room without supper for misbehaving, I was so bored I opened up a wardrobe and found and old parlour guitar with only the low E and A string on it. So I started messing around on it without a clue how to play or tune it I could hear the TV through the floor downstairs and every 15 or 20 mins an ad for Mobil Oil Formula One would come on and it was loud because the ads were always louder than the TV show. The advert had the bassline for the outro for The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. I spent the next few hours waiting for the advert to come on so I could try and play it on the guitar. I managed to pick it out by ear. And I've been a guitarist ever since.

Always drop below the tone, then tune up. You’ll hit it every time, and the tuner will lock in.

it's not a single droning bass note the way this lesson is teaching. watch Lindsay Buckingham play it live acoustically. he alternates the drop d and the fourth d string back and forth with his thumb continuously.

You got my vote,but I understand if it doesn't make it. I'll jus keep on searchin...

Easiest way to tune to DOuble Drop-D is to hit the 12th fret harmonic on the D string, and the 5th fret harmonic on the Low E string and tune the E to D, then Hit the 5th fret Harmonic on the D string, and the 12th fret harmonic on the High E string, and tune it to D

Watches this vid & thinks: "Great,*that's* how it's played." Then follows up by watching a clip of Lindsey Buckingham playing the song acoustically. Completely different fingering. All bass strings, completely different phrasing, no capo...gives up & puts guitar away.
@spirosvoutsinas28205 жыл бұрын
Τhis tuning isn't Double Drop D.Is simple Drop D ,because the D note in the 1th string it does not bass, is a high note.So, if you would Double Drop tuning on your guitar, should tune the 6th string from C
@Hadakles3 жыл бұрын

This is in the wrong key. I remember when I was first learning to play the guitar 50 years ago and chord books and sheet music would be in the wrong key. A song like The Chain is SO well known that the minute you hear it you know what song it is. Why put out a video showing how to play the song in the WRONG key? You could out a capo on the second fret and be in the right key? Why screw new guitar players out there trying to learn the song in the CORRECT key?
@ezekielwhite84433 жыл бұрын
Dude, you can play every song all in different keys. Just cause it's a different key doesn't mean anything, calm down
