Nice to watch you and your daughter continue to explore the hobby together. Looks very rewarding for you, Tom.

If Tom Vasel hangs on with a Euro-Cube-Pusher than it must be worth a good look……

I appreciated the look on Melody's face when Tom mentioned how he wasn't very good at this game. I haven't seen the playthrough yet, but I can imagine how that one turned out. That game takes up a serious amount of table space, though. I didn't realize how much before. I hope I have room to set it up and still actually play. Wow.

To me this feels like Castles of Burgundy. It is all mechanisms, but the gameplay is rock solid. It feels awesome to pull off a good combo - just like in Burgundy. I think if you like Burgundy, you will probably like Yokohama.

Game looks like a lot of fun! Looks like my type of game, definitely considering adding to my collection!

Thanks for sharing and glad Melody enjoys this game. I love Istanbul as well and this does seem familiar.

I have never gawked so much at seeing a set up game. Christ on a bike.

I would rather have a two-sided board with one side for 2 players and the other for more, like Tom said

Mike Jones That's not really what he was saying. The variety of the game comes from different cards you can place on each board. He was saying he would have preferred two options rather than a deck of options that makes the game appear more cluttered.

The kickstarter version has "better graphic design" And I'm like why did you make that an exclusive? It's no greater cost...
@Heelms7 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the graphic design is the same for the Deluxe and non-deluxe. However, TMG stated that they would change the graphic design from the original Japanese game, as it was even more busy and confusing.

Overwhelming. That's a bad first impression. The effort that would take to convince my friends and family to play this if set up on the table, compared to Istanbul is ENORMOUS. It's all the fault of the bad graphic design.

but if you can convince them to play, and they see how easy it is, imagine how many more board games they will be willing to try in the future!

Colin Tress Maybe. But visual appeal is also VERY important to me. This game is a huge missed opportunity: it's not that complex, and the mechanics seem actually fun, but by the fault of the art/graphic direction it is far from approachable or appealing. If iello had published this game it would have been amazing.

TheMrE possibly. there's a lot of information that needs to be on each tile. i found the look very offputting as well, but having played it i can easily overlook that given how fun the game is. i hope you get to try it even if you're not interested in purchasing due to how it looks.

TheMrE Understood, but TMG updated the graphics with a slightly less busy look and what appears to be a calmer board. I do think after the first turn, the family would get it. Cheers!

"Plants" and "Bricks". Hmm. Has he read the rules? The plants are tea. The bricks are copper! It's a lovely game, well themed.
