The "Rest" scene is when I found Armand to be most cruel. Throughout the episode, he's doing psycho killer shit and it's scary, but it's mostly fun. But that feeling of hopelessness and defeat Armand conjures is so human and too familiar. It's giving all your darkest thoughts a corporeal form. It's an outside voice saying, "You're not crazy. The hopelessness you imagine is not only a possibility, it's inevitable. Why stick around for that?" That's terrifying. It's too confronting. It's too real. The fact that Daniel resists it for even a second is admirable

Very true. Other people are on about Armand beating Daniel up, but I was like, are you kidding? That’s the least of it! But it goes back to the whole Theatre des Vampires “no pain” method. (Someone asked if Armand had taught that to Santiago, which I can see. Santiago is really more of a gleefully gruesome killer.) I don’t see how that can be called being “loved” by Death, though. You know what being loved by Death would look like? Have you ever seen an episode of the Twilight Zone called “Nothing In The Dark”? Go and look it up and watch it if you haven’t. *That* is a merciful death. But then, it’s like when Louis talks about Gordon Parks’ photography and spending a week with his subjects. Who has that kind of time?

If Eric's Wikipedia page is to be trusted, he went to college about twenty minutes from my house. He went to Oberlin, which is in the same county as my town and right next to my town. It's a liberal arts college in Lorain county Ohio. It seriously only takes me from between fifteen to twenty minutes to get there from my house.

The casting of Luke could not have been any more perfect. I've seen the young Bogosian in other images and I mean honestly, this guy favors him really well. IWTV is just so good. I was watching episode 5, leaning forward, mouth hanging open in the trance of their superb acting. I HATE that its not gotten better ratings because this is actually quality work that comes off to me, at least, like it was given to people who genuinely care about and want to make the best work possible. Great interview, can't wait to see how this season ends and hopefully another begins!

Armand psychologically fucked with Daniels head , he read the dogshit outta him , which would make anyone vulnerable and emotional. Excellent casting. Another great thing about this show. I enjoy Daniel's snarkiness. I know it's different from the books, but I think it's nice that we get to see the aged Daniel. Dealing with real life and his health conditions like Parkinsons. Making the vampires worry about if he will spill something he shouldn't. You really have to be able to hold your own against these vampires (monsters, really). His character calls out Louis on the whining about what he is and asks to become one. Daniel should meet Lestat soon. . . and let him get what he wants.
