Hey, you should check out the format of ranked roulette that harstem a large StarCraft creator does. Playing against someone and talking shit really plays up the drama and makes for better content.
@mattbrunguyen Жыл бұрын
Next time you do this, you should score it like golf in the sense that you earn a point for each rank you are away from the right answer! The lower the better!

I began guessing with two ranks instead of 1. Like "bronze or silver" or "bronze or iron" for example. It sort of makes "bronze" more than just "bronze" which could be good too I think

I love the idea of guessing the rank. I think that instead of random clips, people should submit clips from their own gameplay, that would be more interesting. Honestly though, GothamChess has a series of Guess the ELO that i like the format of. Could get some inspiration from that. Maybe watching a replay of entire games and pointing out key points or something that can give you a better idea of the accuracy of the rank.
@oopsda Жыл бұрын
I like it but sneaking in a few more pro clips would be fun. Or have whoever compiled them throw in some of your own clips so you have to guess when it was you

One division between ranks is consistency, which makes this challenge difficult. Sometimes a silver or below player will have the game of their life, sometimes a GM just isn't on it that day and runs it down. Compensating for days where you're not your best, and capitalizing on games where you are is a sort of x-factor that helps people rank up a lot.
@pyrojkl Жыл бұрын
Another huge factor is seeing mouse clicks and if he could see team CS as well would be a great hint. Its funny because I don't even remember bronze players trying to tower dive super hard back in the day but so much has changed
@coreo6688 Жыл бұрын
@@pyrojkl100% I am better than some of my friends at PvP but worse at CS'ing 3-4 times , it's not that I can't hit CS , I would rather just run it down for kills , this happens in BR's as well but there I can't really see the enemies on the map so the best next thing is to loot 😂😂😂 , majority of players will always like to learn the flashy stuff like combos tower diving , 1vs5 ing and then they don't even bother learning the macro and cs part of the game and then I realised Eternal Return has everything I ever wanted from LoL
@Juslin7989 Жыл бұрын
The challenge is really easy if you cheat a bit by looking at the rest of the map + complete gamestate, instead of the play itself. For example, at 11:03 he guessed masters, but it was pretty obviously low elo from how Gragas was RECALLING instead of looking to make any sort of counterplay after seeing Jarvan bot, and Twitch also had 5 cs/min as an ADC, which is just awful. You can also see Darius relieving pressure for the Gangplank to... drop a ward? When he already sees Jarvan die bot lane?

Just my 2 cents, really nice video. It was fun trying to guess ranks with you. I'm all for this kind of content!! I only guessed 2 out of 20 haha.
@FrenchDinosaur Жыл бұрын
I myself only scored 7/20. It was seriously hard. I half-jokingly said that the first clip was Faker, but ultimately said Masters. Turns out it was actually Faker. A shame cause I am pretty sure I recently watched this game too

Little late to the party, but on the first clip my thought was like "in what soloQ rank a random gank would evolve into a 5 man teamfight on the top lane (with 2 tps being used a the same time)?". I don't think I'ever seen something like that happen in a solo queue game lol.

Our perception of rank is significantly skewed since we started playing for more than a decade. Diamond player mechanics back then aren't as good as the diamond today. Some gold players probably have the same old diamond skill ceiling. A good example is watching old championships from season 1 until probably season 10. Then comparing it to today's standards. Even a flash + ability was considered "godlike" back in the day. Nowadays it's just normal.

What I learnt from this video: 1. Emerald is an invented rank to make Diamond feel better than they are 2. Master is the rank where Bronzes and Challengers collide 3. The last video where he guess gold and were challengers, he could know just by looking at the farm when the Nautilus pressed the tab (something they do all the time)

To be fair to liftlift, from that chart at the end of clip 3, it looks like with the rank distribution changes, an old high gold player would be in emerald now, so putting that Aatrox in gold would be spot on with the old model.

Challenger/pro players guessing elo are like billionaires guessing grocery prices. “I don’t think bronze players can spam the e that fast” yeah dude most bronze players probably aren’t capable of spam clicking a key

something DL wasnt looking at was the CC stacking in the first clip. I'm not that good at league but you can see all the timing of cc esp the lulu that should have spoken high level play. also players who take calculated risks like re-engaging with low hp but having a goal as well as an exit plan

It would be more interesting to have multiple choice, for example you could have a clip of a mid laner playing in a funny way and you'd have to guess if it's a silver mid main or a GM jg onetrick off-role. Just guessing ranks isn't really possible, as even the best players will make boosted plays and lower-rank players aren't necessarily awful mechanically. Or you could have clips from pro streams mixed in with lower-rank plays and you have to guess if it's a pro or amateur.

i play normals with my friends who are roughly bronze-gold and most of them minus one really have quite good mechanics they just have 0 decision making ability and die to obvious ganks as well as taking fights they clearly shouldnt constantly. but sometimes they accident their way into a good situation and general play it well. its very hard to guess just naked looking at plays often. also usually legit 0 map awareness.

14:39 last I played ranked I was Bronze and when I play Naut I hook the far target as long as my main target is in line with them so yea your impression of low elo based on knowledge needs to go up cause so many more resources exist now. Also for context I watch pro more than I play so idk if that has any effect
