They had only watched a few episodes when they put up that review. How can you judge (review) something when you have only seen a tiny bit of it? If that's gonna be their definitive Luke Cage review, they should have titled it "First impressions" or "Ep. 1 - x review". Enough time has passed since the premiere, it's more than okay to release a full season spoilers review of the show by now., since most people who had any interest in watching it, already did.

I find it fascinating when comedians give their most sincere performances in comedies. I think of Jim Carrey in The Mask, I think of Adam Sandler in Funny People, and I think of Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor. I don't know what it is. Maybe comedians are just so in their comfort zone that they can handle playing a more down to earth character. It's a shame that Eddie Murphy isn't getting back out there anytime soon, but hopefully he can make a comeback soon before we forget just how talented he really is.

I love Driving Miss Daisy, but I wouldn't call it a progressive film. It's just a simple film about friendship between two very different people. I can understand why you don't like it because it shows people of color in servitude roles, but I've always thought Morgan Freeman's character has a strong presence in the film.

I'm making this comment early on in the video, so if you answer this later on I apologize. There is no doubt that the "mystical negro" (to use your terminology) trope is DEFINITELY REAL! Especially in older films... my question is why is that such a bad trope? The mysterious black person that swoops in and fixes your marriage with one killer speech, or brings your family back together and teaches you how to fix your car AND teaches you how to play the piano (i'm making up scenarios but you get what I mean) sounds like a pretty good fucking cliche to me. lol

It's one of the few roles that most black people could hope to get in Hollywood aside from the slave, a thug in a blaxploitation movie or the sassy sidekick. It's getting better, but only by so much considering that previous roles I mentioned are the few that a black person will probably get in most Hollywood productions both around the time of Driving Miss Daisy and today. Also, your scenarios don't seem to go much beyond cameos, as opposed to prominent characters who are only used as plot devices to move the story along, and are deprived of any real backstory or character depth. The same thing happens with LGBTQ+ actors who play the gay best friend, or asians who either get to play a terrorist or a taxi driver. Minority actors often aren't allowed to be multi-faceted characters, or at least by the standard of the average straight, white, often male protagonist.

The crew gave The Green Room Full Price. Gave Sausage Party Full Price. They loved (or liked) Hell or High Water, The Conjuring, Light's Out, and Korey loved Captain Fantastic and Swiss Army Man, and recently saw Moonlight, which he gave Better than Sex. Perhaps they just have been seeing more terrible movies as of late, and now since the season is coming to a close, all the awards/Oscar movies are being released, they will start giving more positive reviews.
