I showed my mom this movie even though she can't stand the Minions. But she loved the 60s references (she was born in 67) and I showed her the sequel because the 70s references and she grew up in the 70s. But her favorite scene is when they started doing a Minions cover of her favorite song, "Hair" from her favorite musical/movie, "Hair" (she had a crush on Treat Williams).....she busted out laughing. She hates the Minions but she loves the movies.

Just a note, Hendrix's music is still not allowed for use in films but the song used in Minions is "All Along the Watchtower". The song is actually just a cover that Hendrix did (so well that it really feels like his song though). It's not actually his so it can be used in movies.

I hate these little things because they're quite possibly the most uncreative things ever conceived and were most likely made in a stock holder board meeting The simple design makes them easy to draw and market, they speak gibberish so there's no need to write dialogue for them. This was an hour and a half of nothing but screaming and gibberish.

Family movies used to be a lot darker and scarier way back when. You had movies like: the neverending story, Watership Down, the secret of NIMH, The Land Before Time, and all of the older Disney movies before the Renaissance period. And that's just to name a few I can think of

I've always thought the minions were kind of cute. Totally don't mind a movie just about them. l=D Yeah, it totally had more killing than in the other two. But I just don't get the whole "dark" thing. I just always found it strange when people say things like "dark" as if it is scary, evil, or unnatural. But there's no need to be afraid of the dark, and it is not a negative or unnatural thing. It's kind of odd how some people feel about darkness. When talking about certain things, some people equate the dark to being scary, bad, or evil, but I never could understand it. =/ This is just a philosophical thought, but if darkness has been around ever since the beginning of everything before anything else, is all around us, and there is even inside of us (I imagine it gets pretty dark inside of our bodies. I don't think we have light bulbs inside of us), isn't darkness one of the most natural and non-evil things out there? =o And night time is actually one of the most peaceful times for most people. It's when we rewind, recharge, and heal. Can't people just say what they mean? Like, say the movie's kind of grim or....despicable. See what I did there? l=D

Yay Me The term you're looking for when it comes to the killing is edgy.But dark would be for example the minions journey doesn't have a predetermined happy ending from the get go and they have to earn it with events that really puts them in a really bad position along the way.That's would be for me the definition of dark tone in media.

Meh, I agree with Martin after I saw it. It wasn't insightful, and not even really that fun. Just kind of nonsense that could have been better. True not all animated films have to have rich substance, but they could at least add something new to the table. In my opinion they should have just left Despicable Me as is.

That is really what it is. Slapstick comedy is an easy, cheap form of comedy that appeals mainly to children. I mean this is the perfect movie for a child with a short attention span that wants to watch silly characters hurt each other. Surprised this review didn't cover that aspect and the singing numbers either as they were god awful, especially in contrast to the great classical rock soundtrack. The minions constantly breaking out into incoherent songs to fill up time.

Felipe Zane slapstick can be done well, its been proven (Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton). I think what this movie lacks is the creativity that can be used to make interesting slapstick.

The end watch it again you feel they took out the best part when Corey and Martin start fighting over what the movie is good or not and they cut it and start learning more about movie. I could be wrong
