At the core of traditional marketing, I get Danielle's point. But we are in a day and age when traditional marketing is boring and doesn't appeal to the current generation. What grabs are interest are things that are unorthodox. Things so outlandish they go viral and appeal to us because of that ridiculous factor. Like BK's mac and Cheetos. It's ludicrous, but it sold out cause its so eccentric and this generation loves that kinda of quirky stuff.

I don't understand why Danielle is on this show. This is coming from someone who listened to Spill reviews back in the day so I'm aware of the long history of great chemistry seen with Korey and Co; but whenever any kind of discussion comes up her opinions are so far into left field compared to everyone else that the everything grinds to a halt just to address her point of view. People have differing opinions on the show but she comes off as ignorant and when everyone jumps on her then she switches her opinion on a dime to move the discussion along. She might be a cool person to be friends with but it seems that with ANY discussion (not just that Stanford Rapist one where lack of empathy for the victim was in full effect) on the show, she's a stick in the mud.

That comment about KFC and Pizza Hut being the most pop fast food joints in China is real! I lived in Beijing from the mid 80 to the early 90s and these two were the first american chains to get to china: KFC First, then Pizza Hut. Anyone who lived there at that time will remember that first fast food place in Beijing. In fact, there was fast food place right next close to my neighborhood of Jianguo Men Wai called ¨Uncle Sam¨. This was the closest thing we had to Mc Donalds.

Danielle may be a nice person and a fun friend, but she is absolutely a stick in the mud, regardless of what the conversation is about. There's a difference between being the devils advocate and just being someone who provides no beneficial addition besides halting the flow of the show. Just keep her off on the side in that peanut gallery. Also, if she spent all that money on a marketing degree and still can't see the connection between the KFC ploys and pretty solid marketing, then she obviously stole that degree.

I agree with Danielle. The thought of all the residual chicken grease being coalesced into spreadable muck turned me off KFC. Like, alot. And it's pointless because anyone who would buy and smear that on themselves probably eat KFC like a mothafucker already, so what's the point? I doubt the cost to gain ration was even worth it.
@SuperCosmicMutantSquid7 жыл бұрын
The point was a curio factor. KFC created a product that people would JOKE about and made it available for people to buy and they DID. They sold out of the stuff in a heartbeat and it gave them the attention it wanted. It may sound 'stupid' but there are people who are honestly into things like this and when given the chance they will spend their money for it. KFC marketed something that got people excited and it got them to come in.
