I saw glass onion twice. Once in theater & Netflix. Enjoyed it a lot both times. Seems like Johnson made a traditional who done it. Multiply unique eccentric characters, red herrings, characters acted serious when needed & light hearted at appropriate beats. I had a blast watching it.

I loved Glass Onions, to me this is as good as the first, the first had a more stacked cast (although this cast is still amazing) but the mystery was better played out in this. Bare one questionable moment towards the end and a couple of characters that were a little underused it was fantastic. (Btw Madelyn Cline in this is up there with Julia Fox in uncut gems, I had an insane neuron activation everytime she was on screen, what a woman.)

I also feel like it speaks to the people that work customer service the most since it's said a few times in the movie, you've trapped yourself on an island with people who have every right and reason to end you and can't see that the worst would happen to them. The ending brings that same joy as banning someone from your store, or the manager/owner taking your side when you are clearly in the right for a situation.

While I do prefer the first one cause it genuinely surprised me and for the gorgeous art style, I did have a good time with this one. Like Korey I was kinda mad about how much I liked it because if you take it into individual pieces it was stupid but for some reason it worked. I fell into a trap with this movie cause I've been reading murder mysteries since I was a kid so i was expecting everything to be really clever and like Benoit I'm not good with dumb things. I guess I have the same weakness as BBC's Sherlock, I always want things to be clever when simple and dumb work just fine all the time. I have always loved the mystery tropes. The great sleuth, the group of people that HATE the victim. and the moment the sleuth gathers the suspects and reveals the murderer. I know they are lazy writing, but I love it when done right. Since I was a kid watching Columbo and reading murder mysteries.

I thought Glass Onion was pretty average. All empty spectacle, no substance. The first felt fresher, better directed and more tightly put together, and more coherent. Glass Onion pulls a lot of Ocean's Twelve bullshit where it's not a twist, since there was nothing hinting at it, it's the movie literally just revising itself at whim. It's just "and then this happened, and then this happened, and then this other thing happened". Got some minor Agatha Christie 'Evil Under the Sun' vibes from the setting, too.

I didn't like it all that much. The first movie was great on all fronts. Characters, plot, twist, real clues that the audience can catch if we're being sharp. Glass onion lacked all of this except for character, and that's barely held true by Daniel Craig, and an assist from Janelle Monet. The clues were in such plain sight. And the big twist was a twist for sure but one we've seen and not all that shocking.

I’m so glad I watched this without watching the first one first, because I came into it with no expectations. I later learned that this is a standalone movie so I didn’t miss anything from not watching the first one (except just knowing Benoit was a famous sleuth). Thanks to not having expectations or comparisons in my head, I didn’t expect it to take itself seriously like some others seem to have been doing. I took the humor for what it was and I laughed when it went from serious to funny out of nowhere. I immediately understood the reason that the killer was so easy to guess because they flat out explain in the movie that it will be easy. It was a very self aware movie that basically broke the 4th wall. There were no “tricks” to the surprise endings because they were mostly right in front of us (literally), but I still got a few surprises that I didn’t predict. It’s something I’d love to watch again just to see if I can catch what I missed the first time. Plus Janelle did an AWESOME job!

I think that this movie can stand on his own two feet independently without you not having much or any knowledge of the first movie. It's a standalone sequel, If you will. I'm almost the complete opposite of Martin. Liked the 1st one way more, maybe because I didn't know who the killer was, unlike the 2nd one, where it was way too obvious, that I hoped there would be a plot twist somewhere in which it'll be revealed that it's actually a different person. One huge criticism for this movie: I want Blanc to be dumbfounded for once, his schtick is getting old now, I know that he's supposed to be this great detective that untangles everything at the end, yet I wanted a different outcome this time, that was the twist I was waiting for, which I never got.

The first knives out was staring Daniel craig, him, him, her, her, and Chris evans playing a small roll. So evans was clearly the killer. Same problem here. Edward Norton was the biggest actor on set next to craig. So the moment someone died and it wasn’t Edward Norton, I knew he was the killer. Casting needs to not give away the ending

But is it just me or were some of the characters and events a lil "inspired by real life" lol For example, it seems like Norton's character was based on Elon Musk, and Bautista was a lil Joe Rogan-ish. And the energy source must've been either good writing or coincidental cause we just learned how to do nuclear fusion and that was a huge success for humanity in regards to energy. I truly enjoyed Knives Out and couldn't figure out who done it until towards the middle. With Glass Onion it was clearly who we thought it would of been. Still a great film and I'm highly upset I wasn't able to see it in theaters as well. I just watched it yesterday. That beginning took me by surprise as I sorta thought the characters were a bit annoying outside of Andi. This would of worked actually as a two or three part series, given the back story on how they met. However at the end of it all, it came together. BUT given the world we live in, obviously the murderer will most likely walk. It's like a new age Columbo.
