The game isn't heavy because of villagers' animations and pathfinding. I went to my task manager and it only uses 50%~65% of my CPU (i5-12400) and its GPU usage is *_ALWAYS_* at 100% (RTX 3060) no matter how much I lower my graphics settings. So, yeah... since this game is made with what I assume to be a custom-made engine (which is a rare & daring decision,) they definitely need to prune the code so it runs smoother. But at the same time, it is absolutely delightful that the game *_almost_* does everything on its own! We don't have to do all the tedious house/road planning. All you need is to tell the game where to let villagers build houses, where to let them cut/grow trees and so on and so forth. The only thing you need to pay attention to is to leave some space for unforeseen stuff. Also, make sure to tax people and receive newcomers!
