Amazing tone. You can see the Marshall Power Brake off to the side. That is a crucial element in getting the gain necessary to achieve this tone. You won't get this head to sound like this without tons of volume. It's a non master volume head. I do love it!

yeah, either a power attenuator OR - just for the case that you're into modifying amps - you could do something with the interior to decrease the amout of watt from 100 to 30. i once read an artice about that with some people doing this with an old JCM800.

Damn man, you just nailed it. After thinking about who the new guy should be if Oz lost his mind and actually fired Zakk (after hearing all those dumbasss rumors) Doug makes total complete sense. Aldrich would do one hell of a job on all the old-school Randy stuff and probably write some great new stuff as well.

i know what you mean. the amp definitely starts to crunch the more you turn up the volume, but it's so incredibly loud, you won't believe it. i work at a music store and we have one of these. we played it a couple of weeks ago before we opened the doors and wanted to know when the distortion cracks in. it was so loud we almost flew away.

i use an eq pedal and drop the level and set the sliders where it sounds good, the dropped level keeps the amp from overdriving, then just pick real lightly

Two things...a) doug aldrich is so consistently amazing and fluid everytime I hear him play it's absolutely mind blowing. b) even though it's a tribute to Randy, why did they have to put his mother front row in front of a wall of stacks?! That can take your head clean off!

don't woory too much . just tried this amp this afternoon . sounds really nice clean and def. loud ! overdrive comes when playing at earth-shattering levels ... oh , and it has a LOT more bass than on the so-called "randy rhoads tone" videos ...
@Chonkromp963

znotty, it's actually a bit different the wiring inside the amp is diffrent. marshall modeled this EXACTLY after randy's, and he had rewired the inside of his amp, remodified it himself. by plugging into the bottom right input, you can use the volume as a gain control also, wheras the top right is a strict set amount of gain. you can read about it on marshall's website, or in the july 2008 guitar world

@MrNixon79 If it doesn't sound like a tube amp you really have no clue as to what a tube amp sounds like. I've had one of these for 3 years now and it has more tube tone and harmonic content than any other tube amp I've owned. It's pure Marshall Superlead. You also can't use the sound recorded by a video camera to judge an amp.

Don't despair. Production run isn't limited to 100 because they wanted people to have the opportunity to buy one, not just a lucky few in the right place at the right time with (unfortunately a bit too much) cash to spend.

? I guess, you can use every pedal in every mood... yep, Randy used the pedal to boost the signal, so you have your reply. I mean, Randy for that big tone used the pedal like a boost but with more distortion...

1:23 - floor - Randy's mom Delores (Dee). Right side in red hair Randy's sister Kathy and left with dark hair and badges is Randy's brother Kelle (Doug). Not sure of the other girl to the left of him and above mom, maybe Randy's girlfriend? 3:10 - guy walks over and turns the Marshall Power Brake sitting on black bottom to the left of far left 1959RR stack Doug is playing thru to the right slightly!

He doesn't try to emulate his style, he just tries to make his solos his own, hence why a lot of Randy solos have variation when Zakk plays them.

@MrMnM14 Yeah, sometimes Malmsteen can be a bit boring. He has done some great songs though, Black Star, Far beyond the sun to mention a few. I think besides Hendrix, Blackmore, Iommi, Tipton, Rhoads, EVH etc. he's probably one of the most influential players of all time.

@AzaelVI An ass he is indeed. I on the other hand hate marshall amps, I find that they take away much of the saturation in my sound and they don't really sound as "heavy" as I would like my amps to sound. So it's Randal for me.-

@Teratop where? Tell me which is the point. Every guitar player has is own vibe and his own guitar solo.. yesterday Doug cames here in Italy and played with bunch of great guitar players (such like as Lynch, Stef Burns, Seymour Duncan and on) and with Glenn Hughes. He started with Blues For Mylene (a piece of song that he wrote for his wife) and then he played something completely new, I don't see the problem. There's a chiché and I think is a cool thing

A couple comments...yes, Doug is VERY good and plays all of the solos and is just a WAY better player than Zakk Wylde! I notice the following: 1:00 - Les Paul (not cutom headstock) - Gold Top with single binding and creme pickguard and Neck pickup has silver pickup cover, but bridge is uncovered and white in color

You definenty have a good point, BTW you could never copy Randys tone exactly if you wanted to! They don't make those altec speakers anymore! Zakk did try though! He has taken Randys tone to his level, With 300 watt speakers and the MXR distortion and mxr EQ in the FX send, JCM 800 and a Les Paul. What a copy CaT!!!!!!
