As messed up as it sounds when your bf/gf or spouse compliment you sometimes it can be overlooked because it’s expected or you may feel like they complimented you to make you feel better or boost your ego. But when you hear that same compliment from someone you don’t know at all or never met, it’s genuine and somebody random took time out of there day to acknowledge how good you look that’s a great feeling for any man or woman.
@lxbronx65 ай бұрын
Then they don’t really love em then. No one should be able to have that affect outside of the relationship. Take the compliment and keep it pushing. So BF is supposed to be fine with giving the SAME compliments and being disregarded essentially but some stranger who does NOTHING for his partner gets to say the same thing and they get a BETTER reaction? I think the fuck not. BF word doesn’t mean anything to his partner at all. Plus it’s not always genuine.

The way this show exemplifies reality so well without losing the comedic aspect is amazing. It is so rare for men to receive any compliment, let alone from a stranger. The fact that it came from a stranger makes it feel that much better because they don't know you at all, and they noticed it and SAID something about it. For a lot of men this literally never happens because most of us don't have Kevin James' adorable ass face. Meanwhile even quite ugly women get compliments. If your man gets all giddy from being complimented by someone, whether it's a man or woman, how can you not be happy just seeing him all happy.

Doug made the ultimate point....Carrie gets the vindication so much she has to numb herself to it, but Doug gets an eye or a flirt once every blue moon, if that. People have their confidences but they're also informed by the world, by what happens day in and day out in their lives. Both of them are secure in their marriage, but they go out there and have their perception of how everyone else sees them. Doug has the, "I'm a fat goofy looking guy" identity in his head most days. And as if to reinforce his point, he didn't even bat an eye when Carrie said she gets touched and leered at all day, every day. It really highlights how foolish Carrie is.

lol to be fair, the times a guy gets overtly hit on versus a lady is most definitely skewed towards the ladies to the point where they gotta find it annoying. I've been around a single girl at a bar before and I felt annoyed for her lol. But us dudes rarely get hit on, so yeah it's kind of a big deal and boosts our egos when it happens. ladies, you wanna make a dude feel special? Hit on us. And genuinely mean it. When a stripper or porn star hits on us, it doesn't mean a thing cause they hit on everyone for some cash or to get some other poor sap hooked on their gross videos. But a genuine compliment goes a long way with us cause we almost never get em.

The Mike, Watch the entire series. Doug did some pretty abominable things to Carrie himself. He was a man-child, and that can be very exhausting in a marriage. Always seemed that the things she did he deemed unforgivable - he had already done to her! Like the time she secretly hung on to their temporary Manhattan apartment and he wanted to end things; he conveniently overlooked the time he rented, in total secret from the get-go, the little bachelor pad over the Chinese restaurant where he secretly moonlighted! Instead of judging FICTIONAL characters and keeping score, though, it’s more fun to just enjoy a well-written, well-acted comedy that can’t be found anymore in 2024.
