@luisv4281 3 күн бұрын
@@GintaPPE1000 it is clear that EV technology has evolved immensely since the release of the first Prius. My critique goes to the new trend of naming stuff like this "planet friendly" when actually mining of the minerals required to produce the modern Batteries also pollutes big time, and in my opinion, it would be actually better to adapt these huge battery advances into the design of more sophisticated cars that could use them more efficiently, and not to just put into a huge fridge that of course will require a lot of energy to be moved. There has been huge advancement, but there's still a lot to be done, and that involves also proper application.

All the huge trucks and SUVs get high marks in practicality due to storage and towing capabilities, but they should get penalized for their size. Depending on where you drive, their massive size can have a very significant impact on their practicality. Not being able to fit into short parking lots or narrow gaps is a huge deal, and it isn't reflected anywhere in the Dougscore.

But it needs that giant battery to get reasonable range. A Hyundai Ioniq 6 goes significantly further, on less than half the battery. And charges faster (in miles-added-per-minute) thanks to being so much more efficient. The fastest-charging Hummer advertises "Up to 100 miles in as little as 11 minutes with a compatible DC fast charger" (350 kW) The worst takes 14 minutes. (Less efficient, and only takes 300 kW.) Ioniq 6 advertises 250 miles added in 18 minutes. (They don't do a "100 miles in x", they do a "10-80% in x".) And Out of Spec's charging tests bear this out. Ioniq 6 adds miles faster across the board. (Sadly, they haven't charge tested or range tested the longer-range Ioniq 6, only the lower range model that does get less range than the Hummer EV.)

That applies to pretty much applies to all EV trucks IMO. I predicted from the beginning that EV trucks in general wouldn't sell well since people who buy trucks for the image don't tend to be EV buyers and people who buy trucks to do actual work like contractors or someone towing a camper generally wouldn't buy something so expensive just to get a job done, especially considering the limited range and long recharge times. IMO, EV trucks make a lot of sense for people who actually need a truck to haul things, have a place to charge, do most of their driving fairly locally, and won't exceed the truck's range in a typical day, but that's about it.

Hi Doug, can we get some first impression driving? Like when you first startup any of the cars you review. I think it would be entertaining.

At 9,200 lbs, 0-60mph at 3.5 sec seems impressive even with 830hp...I wonder how quickly it can stop from 60-0 though?

@@purwantiallan5089 you're kidding/exaggerating, right? that's like around 1,000 feet...that's closer to train territory than truck territory for for stopping distance 🤣 I figure, being AWD electric it probably stops OK despite it's weight, but I doubt it will be on a dime by any stretch. Google Maps will probably send this truck into a shortcut backroad it finds that has a narrow bridge with a 3 ton weight limit, and game over Hummer. Google Maps: "We have found a faster route , want to take it? 3...2...1...okay, since you didn't respond, we are hoodwinking you over to the new route anyhow" (Google Maps is no good at all when driving a large vehicle like a box truck...omg, they have options to avoid highways, ferrys, and tolls, but not alleys or backroads or bridges and areas with height/weight/width restrictions, it is absolutely infuriating)
